Allah says in the holy Quran: “(They are) avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of (what is) unlawful. So if they come to you, (O Muhammad), judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them – never will they harm you at all. And if you judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.” (5:42). The Quran is the direct speech of Allah. When you read and refer to it every day, it is as if Allah is talking to you every day.

The most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, (so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him. ( hadith qudsi Al-Bukhari) As I grew older, I get tired easily, especially at the end of the day. So its hard for me to get up after midnight for tahajud prayers like I used to do more often when I was way younger. Reading chapter Tears and Traces has given me the motivations. “Think about all those times Allah saw you struggling to pray. Maybe you had an injury and praying became harder for you. Those elderly people who pray for the sake of Allah. They shed tears of brokenness and vulnerability. The body shows signs of wear and tear but if it’s for something that is good, Allah sees that and knows that we’re doing that for Him”. Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good; [3:134] (Allah’s love for people)Abdullah ibn Mas’ud said, ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “Which of the deeds is most beloved to Allah?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Performing the prayer at its prescribed, fixed time.” I asked, “What next?” He replied, “Dutifulness to the parents.” I asked, “What next?” He replied, “Jihad (striving) in the Cause of Allah.” Had I asked him for more, he would have told me.’ [ Bukhari ] Worship Allah ˹alone˺ and associate none with Him. And be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, near and distant neighbours, close friends, ˹needy˺ travellers, and those ˹bonds people˺ in your possession. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful—” (Qur’an 4:36 ) This book is divided into 30 chapters. Each of the chapters goes through some explanation about what Allah loves and how one should do those to get Allah's love. Allah loves Piety, Repentance, Excellence, Angelic Praise, Sincere Supplication, Those Who Are Trying, Tears and Traces, Trust, Patience, Justice, The Beneficial People, Strength, Independence, Healthy Pride, Honour, Gentleness, Humility Without Disgrace, Forbearance and Deliberation, Due Diligence, Consistency, Punctual Prayers, Cleanliness, The Mosque, Love, Your Mother, The Unnoticed, Generosity in Trade, Those Who Follow the Prophet, Acceptance of His Gifts, Beauty and many more. Allāhu Akbar! The Companions did not just verbally affirm their love for Allah, but they proved their love with their actions. Do We Truly Love Allah?

Guard yourself from the Hellfire, even with half of a date in charity. If one cannot find it, then with a kind word.” [ Bukhari ]If you have to choose, would you rather be punished once in this dunya or for eternity in the akhirah? Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend [in the way of Allah ] from that which you love . And whatever you spend – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it. [3:92] (Person’s love for things)

One such example is the legendary Companion, Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr. The Prophet ﷺ once saw him approaching, wearing a sheepskin tied to his waist (in stark contrast to the expensive clothes he used to wear prior to accepting Islam). The Prophet ﷺ said, “Look at this man whose heart Allah has illuminated! I saw him when his parents used to provide him with the finest of foods and drink; but the love of Allah and His Messenger drove him to what you see.” Sometimes, it is challenging to separate Allah being affectionate, Allah being merciful, And Allah being forgiving. Aren’t they all the same? Al-Ghazali states, “Its meaning [al-Wadud] is close to ‘ the Merciful ,’ but Mercy comes to one who receives Mercy, And the one who receives Mercy is needy and poor. So the Merciful’s actions presuppose one who is weak to receive Mercy, while the activities of the Loving-Kind [al-Wadud] do not require that. These kafirs faught against Islam to the point that they will not hesitate to kill the Prophet SAW. When Allah loves a slave, He calls out Jibril and says: ‘I love so-and-so; so love him’. Then Jibril loves him. After that he (Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on earth love him“. – [Bukhari & Muslim]However, there are also passages indicating Allah’s love and mercy extend to all people universally: “My mercy encompasses all things.” (Quran 7:156) Almighty Allah said (what means): “Allah and His Angels send blessing on the Prophet, O you who believe! send your (salah) and salute (greet) on him with a worthy salutation.” 33:56. They have more subtle plans to weaken the Muslims’ faith such as beautiful entertainments, social media that are designed to be addictive and haram ingredients in the food industry etc. Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.[2:190] (Allah does not love) Almighty Allah said (what means): “Say (O Muhammad): “if you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic monotheism, follow the Quran and Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [3:31].
