Using your electric drill and wood screws, drill your wooden batten into the wall using the markings that you made previously.

Rebated wood is wood that has a groove cut into the edge - so you can slot the panel under the groove. On some of the more expensive bathroom suites, bath panels are made out of wooden materials, but staining MDF in colours like oak and walnut is very popular. How to Choose the Correctly Sized Bath Panel The filter will now only display products relevant to you and make it easy to choose a suitable bath panel. So whether you’re after a versatile white finish, a natural wood finish, frosted glass inserts or other variation, you will swiftly find what you are looking for. Be assured that whatever your style and requirements, we have what you need and will guide you through the process to give you that peace of mind. When your panel - or panels - are ready, put them into position to see how it fits against the bath and wall. If you have made an “L”-shaped panel, it could be left free-standing if secure enough. However, there are options available for securing a panel in place. Then you want to cut your wooden batten so that it is the same height as your bath. Do this carefully with your hand saw.

If you own or have bought a bath that isn’t free-standing then you’ll need at least one bath panel; but just how do you fit a bath panel? Align your bath panel to the side of your bath, using the spirit level to ensure that the panel is perfectly straight from top to bottom.

2. Trim the panel

Bath panels are generally made using the same acrylic that the rest of your bathroom suite comprises of, however, there are some exceptions. Using your pencil, make markings where the panel sits on the floor. This will be used as a guide for your wooden batten. Some panels are made from an MDF type material which can then be modified easily to your bathroom by either staining or painting.

You will need to use wood adhesive on the inside of the panel where the panel and the batten meet. Then you can fit your panel into place. Place your panel under the top lip of your bath and then slide it into place. The panel will ‘hook’ under the batten and stay in place. Adjust the height of the plinth if your panel has one. Some bath panels, typically wooden ones, come with a "plinth," which is a plank that screws in along the bottom of the panel. It overlaps the main panel so you can move it up and down to adjust the height. Lay the plinth on the floor and then place the edge of the panel on top so they're overlapping. Move the panel up and down on the plinth until the height reaches the measurement you took for your opening. [5] X Research source Are you planning a new bathroom or kitchen makeover? Take your tape measure and measure from the top rim of the bath down to the floor. This will tell you what height you need to fit your panel at. The main purpose of a bath panel is to hide the plumbing and underside of your bath. Most bathrooms will only really require the side bath panel, but depending on the layout you may also need the end panel. Make sure that your wooden panel has a wooden plinth. This allows you to adjust the height of your panel if needed and also assists with any slanting. This can be fitted either behind the panel to add more depth. Or in front to create a “skirting” look.

Fitting a bath panel can be straightforward if you want to save the extra money from hiring a professional - especially if you are only installing a new panel. Our cutting-edge market research enables you to find great products here for less, if you find an identical product cheaper elsewhere — we will match or even beat it! Next, you need to align your bath panel along your bath and mark where the inside edge meets the wall. This is where you will install your supporting batten.Depending on the type and position of the bath in your bathroom, you may have as many as three panels - one for each side that is exposed. Aside from hiding the underside of the tub, a bath panel will also cover piping and prevent water getting underneath, which can lead to mould.
