He said, ‘The Lord has told me that you will reach more people through your writing, than you will in all the years of your preaching.’ I wasn’t a writer, I didn’t want to write, I didn’t feel qualified, but my wife Debby wrote the prophetic word down and we did not forget it. She came into the Kingdom at a hundred miles an hour,’ Bob once wrote ‘and never slowed down. She took her family in one hand and her faith in the other, and said, “we are going to serve the Lord.”When you need spiritual insight. ‘When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak of His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come’ (John 16:13 NKJV). In 1981 he resigned from pastoring and spent the next 15 years travelling across the U.S. and the world, as a popular guest speaker and evangelist. He also hosted his own television program called "The Breakfast Club." Bob Gass - cherished author of The Word For You Today, evangelist, pastor, and teacher - died peacefully in his home on June, 5th. He was 75.

In 1991, Bob and Debby were married and their pastor gave Bob a prophecy before the wedding ceremony. He said, "You will reach more people through your writing, than you have in all the years of your preaching." At that moment, Bob had never written anything and had no idea how this would happen. Over seven years, over 20 million copies of Bob Gass quarterly devotionals were printed. Each day more than one million people read his ideas, insights and illustrations and every week 3,000 readers wrote to say, "It's just what I needed today." This volume contains 365 of best days.Bob was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His father died when he was 12 and Bob’s mother raised Bob and his two siblings as a single parent. After years spent speaking in churches, of all denominations, throughout North America, he moved to the northeast where he built and pastored a large church. He was fortunate as a teenager to have Gordon Magee as his mentor. When he moved from Ireland to the United States, Magee offered to pay for Bob’s passage to America.

Bob’s wife, Debby has given us permission to share this with you, as we know that many of you will have been greatly impacted by his ministry. In 1998, Bob launched The Word For You Today in the U.S. He wanted to give churches a tool that would help pastors disciple their members and keep them engaged with God's Word on a daily basis. Today over 5,000 churches each quarter use the devotional, with a reach of 1 million copies per quarter. The devotional is in print, on television, radio, and digital platforms in places like Africa, Argentina, Cuba, China, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Nepal, and Russia, and currently reaches over 83 million people each day. Astounded by the response in the United States, Bob offered his devotional readings to UCB in the United Kingdom.

He was raised in Northern Ireland, but moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the United States when he was 18 years old. Gass, along with his brother Neil and sister Ruth, were brought up in a strong Christian tradition by their mother after their father had died when Bob was just thirteen. He became involved in Christian leadership for over 40 years, but much of his inspiration was based on the Biblical principles instilled in him by his mother. [4]
