About this deal

The innovative AntiVibration design of the side walls is not only eye catching: the system also provides more stability and reduces vibration. The enhanced insulation also regulates noise levels, making Bosch washing machines very quiet, even during the spin cycle. Available in white, this freestanding washing machine will suit any kitchen or garage. With a 9 kg capacity, the WAU28T64GB can clean large loads in each cycle, making it an ideal choice for families. Programmes Key specs – Drum size: 8kg; Max spin speed: 1,400rpm; Rated efficiency: C; Wool wash: Yes; Delicate Wash: Yes; Hand wash: Yes

Delicates programme, Easy-care programme, Whites and coloureds programme, Woollens hand wash programme The Bosch WAU28R90GB is a washing machine that offers efficient and reliable performance. Designed with advanced technology, it is built to provide optimal cleaning results for various types of laundry. To assess a machine’s cleaning performance, we use lab-quality cotton stain swatches impregnated with nine tough stains (grass/mud, mustard, carrot baby food, tea, cooked beef fat, red wine, tomato puree, sheep’s blood and coffee) and these allow us to perform repeatable and fair tests of a machine’s cleaning performance. SpeedPerfect is a special fuction developed for situations when time matters. With SpeedPerfect you can reduce your washing time by up to 65%* without compromising results. It can be used in combination with most of the programmes, all loads and textiles. For example, by selecting the mix programme in combination with SpeedPerfect, you can throughly wash up to 4 kilograms of mix load in just 41 minutes. (*Difference between the duration of Easy Care Programme 40°C and the duration of Easy Care Programme 40°C in combination with SpeedPerfect option.) One thing worth mentioning, however, is that the Serie 6 won’t achieve the same level of wash performance when using the i-Dos feature – and nor will any of the Bosch machines with the feature. This is because liquid detergent does not – and can not – contain bleaching agents. If you want the whitest whites and the most powerful stain-removing performance possible, you’ll need to use washing powder and that means adding it manually before every wash. What’s more, the ActiveWater Plus technology uses built in sensors to adjust the water capacity based on the fabric and weight – so you’ll always get perfect results while only using as much water as needed. For smaller homes or flats, the Quiet Wash option may be something of a boon, too. This isn’t a noisy machine, but the Quiet Wash mode lowers the noise levels even further. This makes it ideal for setting a wash going last thing at night or first thing in the morning. Bosch Serie 6 WAU28R90GB review: Washing performance Like its predecessor, it comes with a 9kg drum which is roomy enough to suit most households and the 1400rpm spin speed should leave your laundry free of excessive moisture, making it easier to get dry. For energy efficiency it uses clever tech to weigh your load and dynamically adjust the length of wash, amount of water and energy used. The Bosch Quiet Wash programme lowers the noise levels of the cycle to avoid disruptions and maintain a peaceful household."

The Serie 6 WAU28R90GB acquitted itself well in these tests. Curiously, stain removal wasn’t on a par with best of last year’s Bosch machines but the differences weren’t night and day. All the stains on our test swatch were significantly faded at 40°C, and upping the temperature to 60°C saw the worst stains fade further still, albeit not (as noted) as much as on previous generations. We love the i-Dos automatic dosing feature which intelligently adds liquid detergent and fabric softener into the wash. All you have to do is fill up the tanks, which hold enough for up to 15 loads, and the machine will add the correct detergent dose to each wash. Bosch has equipped the Serie 6 with a variety of features designed to prevent everything from water-related disasters to unwanted engineer call-outs. If energy efficiency is a priority, then you’ll need to look towards Bosch’s Serie 8 range for A– and B-rated machines – or turn your attention to the ranges from other manufacturers. It is a pity that the machine falls down a little on repairability with a sealed drum unit and door – this means you’ll need to buy whole new units if just one component part of either breaks. If this model had a splittable tank, door and so forth, it’d be set to last for many, many years with the occasional repair and part replacement. Nowadays, however, there are few if any machines on the market which are fully repairable, so we can’t be too hard on Bosch in this regard.
