Citadel Layer: Dark Reaper

VAMPIRIC MIST: A pale grey with an indigo cast, this is a fantastic highlight for light medium and light greys if you want something more interesting than just white. Would also be a good highlight for vampiric skin!

Glazing is when you use extremely thin paint to highlight a surface over a few thin coats. The idea is that using a paint medium like Lhamian Medium (or water), you can get a paint thin enough that the color underneath the layer will still come through, and you can gradually build up these very thin glaze layers to make a smooth highlight. If you look at some paint I put on my thumb here, you can see that the color of my fingernail still comes through the paint. The thinner the paint, the more the color underneath will come through and the more layers you will need to build up to the true color. This glaze here is pretty heavy for a glaze layer, but it will still do exactly what I want it to do here. The important thing to remember when edge highlighting, is you want the paint to be thinned so it flows easily from the brush but not so much that it will run everywhere. Please note: we now use a different clear caddy for our paint sets and is different from the one shown in the image.If you wanted to buy every Reaper paint they make (which I now do), There’s no easy way to figure out what sets and then what individual paints you need to buy. Highlight the Red, Amber, Green traffic lights with Evil Sunz Scarlet, Dorn Yellow and Moot Green, respectively.

Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error I’ve used enough different brands now to know a good paint from a frustrating one. I had no issues with any of these paints. In fact, I enjoyed painting with every single bottle. I also think that many people think that thinner paint right from the bottle is a indicator for lower quality. A-And to be fair: this is not too much of a unreasonable assumption. MSP is a little thinner, and maybe that’s why it gets thrown under the bus by some.For my Drukhari, I wanted to make clear that these are three separate subfactions who cooperate, and that they aren’t really a single army. To that end, I chose some color schemes that stand out next to one another, but have a coherent threat that joins them together.

For the sword I go with a bone look – Rakarth flesh washed with Agrax – and I paint the tubing Moot Green.

Basing Terrain

The last five colors in this list are not usually available in acrylic color, and are generally only available in artist's By this point, I had gotten glazing with these paints down to an art. I’ve been trying to glaze with Citadel paints for a few years and I’m a bit exhausted by it. I either can’t get the consistency right or it takes so many layers (30 or more) I get bored. The most annoying thing is that I need to remember the behaviour of every paint as they are all so different. Here I was able to pretty much nail glazing over 3 models, just by adding more or less water. Do take your time when priming to get a smooth finish, as it makes all the difference to the end result. Step 2 – Apply Base Colours The bones paints and old MSP HD paints are the same things. Whilst the Bones range doesn’t include every paint from the HD range, those old HD paints are steadily transitioning into the Bones line-up. Basecoat the white areas with Ulthuan Grey. Again, you want this super smooth, so use nice thin layers.

The first thing we’re going to look at is actually the last thing I painted before I started writing the review. But I didn’t want to waste my time painting up a miniature in this way if I wasn’t confident the paint could do it. After a few weeks with these paints. I was certain this next bit would be easy.

Monochromatic Colors

Once it’s broken down you realise that this is a very good set. A complete rainbow of hues with some strong focus on the green shades (makes sense as the human eye can see more shades of green than any other colour). Now with my glaze of Pallid Wych Flesh ready, I go over the raised muscle of the skin to make it stand out against the rest of the flesh, but not enough to make it too much of a bright white color to overwhelm the Rakarth Flesh.
