About this deal

No time for inside pictures, sorry, there 5 hours left before Ramadan and I still have tons of prep ahead of me insha’Allah. The Mindful Muslim Podcast is a podcast where members from Inspirited Minds have conversations with guests with personal experiences of mental health struggles as well as professionals working within the field. Discussions involve sharing stories, reflections, advice and inspiration!

Hosted by Usman, Deen Inspiration invites influential Muslims from all around the world to share their knowledge, gems of wisdom, practical tips and advice on a variety of Islamic topics. The Muslim Vibe podcast is for Muslims who wish to reclaim the Muslim narrative and build a strong Muslim identity. Join host, Haseeb Rizvi, in conversation with incredibly inspiring Muslim leaders, who share their ideas and stories on some of the challenges modern Muslims experience. The topics discussed encompass faith, culture, and community issues that are important to Muslims. Masha’Allah, I have a 9 year old who loves learning (but hates writing) and a 5 year old who cannot sit down for more than 3 minutes at a time but would be terribly offended if I didn’t plan something for him to do too…. so I thought: meaningful & simple. The Halal Travel Podcast is hosted by colleagues, friends and ‘tea’ buddies Hazirah, Nurul and Raudha. The trio will talk candidly about travel, food, life and everything else in between. What a tragedy it would be if a salafi were to be the worst mother! A mother that – due to her grasp and understanding of the correct way – was intransigent with her children and expected them to immediately follow suit… all the while thinking that she is being pious to Allah by being inflexible to the point of hostility to her children and not talking to them. The salafi should be the best mother because she knows the guidance from Allah. She is the one who understood how to deal with these hearts. She has the tools to do so. So, salafis are the ones who should apply this. Yet people – except those on whom Allah has mercy – are away from Qur’an and Sunnah. They might choose what they like and leave what they are not convinced with or what is not compatible with their personality. “I know that I should not be so nervous and have unattainable standards with the children … but I am like that and they need to accept it… they need to change…” So, basically, their mother is a bad mother and they need to accept it?! You have to change, religion should change us. We have to change according to what we learn. It is important to choose interesting and engaging books for children. You can choose narrations of the prophets, sahabah (companions of the Prophet ﷺ), Angels, and other wondrous creations of Allah. Try exploring themes of adventures, fairy tales, fantasy, memoirs, self-help, and other suspenseful stories. The reply angered Ummayya greatly. He began to torture Bilal. He was tied with ropes and made to lie on the burning hot desert sand at mid-noon. He was then asked to forget the God of Islam and worship the 'great' idols known as LAT and UZZA. But Bilal was strong in his new belief. He refused to worship idols and kept crying “AHAD-AHAD”, meaning “One God, One God.” The tortures continued and were increased. Hot iron rod were stamped on his pained body. Yet Bilal would not yield.

The brief, uncomplicated stories are wonderfully delivered and illustrate essential values of the Quran, such as love, humility, devotion, patience, and trust. Best-Loved Quran Stories is a fantastic present for any child, full of religion, education, and pleasure. All through his life Bilal remained a close companion of Prophet Muhammad and was with him at every occasion. When the Prophet died he was very saddened. Thereafter all his life he looked grieved and very solemn. He had gone to Madina when the Prophet had migrated. After the death of the Prophet he did not feel happy to stay in Madina. He sadly discontinued giving 'adhan' and migrated to Damascus, Syria. He died there after about eight (or ten) years. His grave is still existing in the famous Muslim graveyard in Damascus. People still go to his grave to pay respect and salute him. Nabeeha Khan and Wardah Khan are sisters with almost 10 kids between them! In their pod cast, they share their experiences about motherhood, relationships, and striving to build happy Muslim families. Seeing this calm assurance, the enemy was frightened, and the sword fell away from his hands. With the same calm, the Prophet took that sword in his own hand and asked: “Now, you tell me who is there to save you?”

Bilal the Great African Muslim

He was born in a village in a mountainous place in Western Arabia. Bilal's father was called Rebah and his mother was known as Hamama 1. They had come to Arabia as slaves from Ethiopia. The father and mother were slaves of Ummayya bin Khalaf, a rich man from the tribe of Quraish. Bilal was therefore born in slavery and served as a housekeeper. His master Ummayya bin Khalaf was not a Muslim. Monsuroh Agboola has a six-year-old cousin who lives with her family. Monsuroh started reading to her when she was two years old.

If there is a halal opportunity to make them happy, take it! Avoiding the haram is often a struggle in today’s world, but there is still a lot of halal! Taking them to a friend who has children the same age is halal; taking them to the park is halal; making them good food is halal; playing with them is halal; joking with them is halal; trying to be nice is halal; making them feel secure and happy with their family is halal… and so on. We have a lot of halal options. It is a battle we are living, but there is a solution. Allah wouldn’t put us in a situation to which there is no solution. So, do not allow the haram, but do try to make substitutions with the halal whenever it is possible. It is by the mercy of Allah that – with just a handful of hours before the beginning of Ramadan 1439 – I give you the new and improved version of the workbook “Battles of the Prophet” in not one but 2 different formats. Alhamdulillah. Please note that the links to the old version of this notebook have been taken down. I have re-written it with new material and in a better format. As the name suggests, The Islamic History Podcast seeks to (in their own words) “counter the lies about Islam, the Quran, Allah’s Messenger (PBUH), and Muslims in general.” They host free and paid podcast shows. An exercise to find the shaahid (proof) of it being a Name of Allah in the relative ayah of the Qur’an (which they will be required to copy out in English translation too). Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) during a journey. He went to ease himself. We saw a bird with her two young ones and we captured her young ones. The bird came and began to spread its wings. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and said: Who grieved this for its young ones? Return its young ones to it…[ Sunan Abi Dawud] 6) Abdul Qadir’s treasure Being Muslim is not the easiest thing in the world nowadays. Our Prophet ( salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told us that Islam started as something strange and, towards the end of times, it will again be seen as something strange; that to hold on to it will be like holding on to hot coals… yet we wouldn’t consider any other way, because – alhamdulillah -we know that it is the Truth and nothing compares to it (may Allah keep us firm upon it). The status of homeschooling is nowhere as absolute as that, of course, but the point here is: If we feel strongly enough about it, we will seek the means to achieve it – even if it is not the easiest or most convenient option. Rectifying our intentions and seeking the help of Allah are the first and most crucial of those means, and with the help of Allah nothing is impossible.
