About this deal

Cold, fresh and smoky, just lovely. I'm starting to enjoy Chypre's more and more and smelling my wrist now gives me a clue why it's like that.

So for the scent itself, while it lasts, beautiful, a good 8/10. Sillage was reasonable, this leaves a very delicate scent trail. But longevity, is virtually zero, maybe 2-3 hours, tops. Now if this only cost a tenner, I'd go for it, no doubt, and just keep topping up. But for this price no chance! A sunshine to light the darkest day, Sublime EDT opens with a juicy, golden citrus radiance underlined with buttery luscious ylang ylang and jasmine. I've been under the weather and feeling a bit out of sorts, and something like Sublime can lift me out of the doldrums and ignite a sense of wonder once more.

Growing up, Joy was my Mom's expensive perfume. She wore Opium, Anais Anais, Poison as well. But Joy was the one she wore when she went to the symphony or a dinner party. This one was revered. I tried to wear it, dabbing a little bit onto my wrist while she got ready to go out. I'd go to bed sniffing it, imagining what it was like to be grown up and beautifully dressed at parties. It was beautiful but definitely not for me at the time, and sadly it still doesn't work on me now.

After a few minutes the orange blossom rises and the incense strengthens, while the bergamot and rose decrease in strength. All these, with the exception of Le Sien, were re-released during the 1980s (under the name Ma Collection), and were available until recently, all in a 50ml Eau de Toilette Spray, 75ml Eau de Toilette bottle, and 30ml pure perfume bottle, each with a unique art deco box. A Jean Patou silk scarf, printed in a pattern complementing that of the box was included with the pure perfume. Joy remains the world's second best-selling scent (the first is Chanel No. 5), Joy was created by Henri Alméras for Patou at the height of the Great Depression (1935) for Patou's former clients who could no longer afford his haute couture clothing line. This is a really beautiful scent, I have not smelled the original version of this to compare, only the current release which is apparently "based upon" the earlier fragrance with very similar name - this is heritage collection Chaldee with an accent over the e (don't know how to do it on my keyboard!)Colony: For those who love leather but leather that is elegant, not brash, like many leather perfumes can be.
