About this deal

Up-charge.To get the full benefits of the Kinesis you will need accessories and they will cost you. The VIP3 accessory (the wrist rest + tenting ability) or the V3 (just the tenting ability) will each be up-charges that cost a bit more, but are necessary to get the full effect of the ergonomic features of the Kinesis. Some people may find this to be disappointing since this is already an ‘expensive’ keyboard. Low-force, tactile key switches - The Freestyle2 utilizes a quiet, low-force, tactile membrane key switch. The typical average maximum key force of a switch is 45 grams. This is at least 25% less than most traditional and many ergonomic keyboards such as the Microsoft 4000 with maximum key forces of over 60 grams. The Freestyle2 features quiet, low-force, tactile membrane key switches with a maximum key force of about 45 grams. This is less than 25% - 30% of the force most traditional and many ergonomic membrane keyboards have - e.g. the Microsoft 4000 with over 60 grams maximum key forces. Another oddity is the Insert key, which I rarely use. The Fn key puts Insert onto the Pause Break key, which I never use at all.

The compact symmetrical layout is achieved by removing the numeric keypad found on the right side of most keyboards. This reduces the reach for the mouse for right-handed individuals and optimizes the workspace for everyone. The Freestyle2 Keyboard provides access to numbers along the top row, as well as via an easily toggled numeric layer embedded into the right-hand module. (Please see the Numeric Keypads category for external numeric keypads that are compatible with the Freestyle2 Keyboard.) Featuring simple, sturdy adjustment mechanisms the Freestyle is intuitive to configure and use. Interchangeable accessories provide features never before available from just one keyboard design

Portable. If you need to travel for work or even commute to the local coffee shop to work the Kinesis can actually be folded up. This makes it really convenient to think about ergonomics when you are on the road. The Kinesis is a typical split type of keyboard; itis literally split in half, between the ‘h’ and ‘g’keys. If you have never used this type of keyboard before it is UBER customizable with various working positions. In this post I’m going to give you an in-depth review of the Kinesis Freestyle 2 keyboard. Wrist Rest. The star of the Kinesis is the unique design of the keyboard. But, in saying that there is still a wrist rest included, which I mentioned above is a nice design compliment. However, it’s justOK. This is because there are only a few centimetres of padding on its surface. Although it is better than working on a hard surface or nothing at all if you are using a wrist rest periodically. However, if you really depend on a wrist rest to get you through the day you may need extra support.

The cost of returning goods to us is to be at your own expense and we strongly recommend that you use an insured courier service (DPD, DHL, Yodel etc) for this and obtain a receipt of despatch as we will not be responsible for returned items which fail to arrive or which are damaged in transit. Most of the time, the reason for this is because your keyboard just needs a clean underneath the key. If you can pull the key off, use canned air spray to get rid of any debris/dust. Compact Design: Unlike a ‘conventional’ keyboard, there is no number pad that is located to the right of the lettered keys on the Kinesis. I think that this is desirable for most of the working population, let me explain…AWARD-WINNING SPLIT DESIGN: Unlike fixed ergonomic keyboards, the Freestyle2 allows you to rotate and separate the key modules up to 9" to achieve natural hand, wrist and forearm positions for your specific body type and preferences. Quiet, Tactile Key Switches: The Freestyle2 features quiet, low-force, tactile membrane keyswitches. Rated at 10 million actuations the keyswitches on the Freestyle2 require only 45 grams of force, significantly reducing the effort required to activate each key and below that of most common keyboards and even below that of many other advertised ergonomic models.

From an ergonomic standpoint, the K860 is impressive. It has a curved, split keyframe design, which is intended to help reduce muscle strain on your wrists and forearms. The split keyboard is fixed so it remains as one unit, but the keys are still designed to fall where your hands naturally sit. Once you’ve selected your macro trigger, then simply type the macro contents on the keyboard. Each macro can record up to 300 keystrokes. When you are done recording your macro, simply tap the Macro key to exit Macro Programming Mode. Compatible operating systems (Bluetooth connection required, and therefore a dongle is not included) It seems I type all day, and have gone through keyboards, have broken keys, and have particular criteria I need in a keyboard, and specific things I don't want.

The Freestyle Pro is the most powerful macro keyboard on the market. Thanks to our SmartSet Engine, creating and playing macros is incredibly intuitive. You can record macros onboard using the dedicated macro key or launch the SmartSet to create a new macro or customize an existing one.

From small to tall and body types in between, the Freestyle2 allows for maximum flexibility catering to each individual’s unique needs. Out of the box both modules are connected together by a flexible pivot tether allowing an infinite range of splay. Disconnecting the pivot tether allows up to 9 inches of complete separation of both left and right keying modules. Perfect for individual needs ranging from a narrow footprint to complete separation. This design greatly reduces and/or eliminates ulnar deviation.Atlas Ergonomics White Paper: Published in March 2010 by Atlas Ergonomics of Grand Haven, MI., this white paper reports on that company's intensive five-month study of a split keyboard design. The Freestyle Solo (the predecessor to the Freestyle2) plus the compatible VIP Accessory, was chosen for the project. Researchers studied the impact of the Freestyle Keyboard’s split design on the posture, discomfort, and performance of approximately 80 software manufacturing employees, focusing in particular on the positions of the hands and upper extremities during keyboard use. The study found that 92% of participants used the Freestyle in its split configuration, rather than splayed (i.e. with the two modules connected at the pivot point). The degree of ulnar deviation was reduced across all BMI levels and body types with no reduction in performance for the duration of the study. At the end of the study 96% of participants said they preferred the Freestyle over their previous keyboard. Compatible with low-power peripherals like mice & flash drives. Devices such as iPhones and iPads are not compatible.
