There’s plenty of dynamism on display too, both of the glaring ‘loud/quiet/loud’ type and the more subtle harmonic dynamics – as a result, Thom Yorke sounds poised and immediate. There’s nothing in-your-face about the way the Oppo present music, but at the same time they’re no shrinking violets. The earbuds support IP54 dust and water resistance, but the charging case is not. Avoid using the earbuds and charging case during strenuous exercise to prevent damage from perspiration.
An IPX4 sweat- and water-resistance rating isn’t the best, but is at least on a par with the AirPods. It’s perfectly sufficient for sweaty workouts or getting caught out in the rain; but you won’t be able to take a dip in the pool with these buds. Better noise cancellation can be found elsewhere, and some may find the fit a bit fiddly, but neither issue prevents the EAH-AZ80 getting a big thumbs up from us.
