About this deal

Ambilight is a proprietary Philips technology that extends the onscreen action onto the wall around the TV in the form of coloured light. Not only does it look fabulous, it increases perceived contrast and draws the eye more effectively into the action. If you can't tell, we're big fans. Switching to Movie mode does hamper the directness and projection of dialogue, and the speaker system isn’t quite crisp and clean enough to maintain complete control at particularly cacophonous moments, but for an integrated sound solution at this level, it’s good. You should still budget for a soundbar or home cinema system if you’re able to, though. Verdict The inclusion of ALLM means the TV automatically switches to the low latency Game mode when compatible consoles are detected, and this delivers an input lag of 15ms. While not as low as some of the completion, it’s more than fast enough for all but the most demanding of gamers. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)

Want more oomph? The OLED807 is one of the first TVs to support DTS Play-Fi Home Theatre. The tech lets you integrate your TV into a Play-Fi wireless surround speaker system, using the TV's built-in speakers as a dedicated centre channel. Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Philips created 'The One' TV in 2019, pitching it as a mid-range model for mainstream TV buyers who want a decent, future-proof set at an affordable price. As a camera glides over the snowy surface of Antarctica, it’s obvious that the OLED806 can’t produce the brightness peaks of a flagship LCD TV such as the Samsung QN95A, but it’s a dazzling image by OLED standards, and the detail contained within its highlights combines with stunning contrast and that supreme sharpness to make the icy mountains pop from the screen. It is, in short, stunning, and made all the more so by the lovely Ambilight.Nahrávání USB lze použít pouze pro digitální kanály. Nahrávání může být omezeno ochranou vysílání proti kopírování (CI+). Mohou rovněž platit omezení podle jednotlivých zemí a kanálů. The Philips 65OLED807 has a built-in soundbar, which delivers powerful, clear sound. The soundbar has a built-in subwoofer, allowing you to enjoy deep bass without needing an external subwoofer. The soundbar is compatible with Dolby Atmos, so you can enjoy immersive surround sound. This TV is sure to be the centrepiece of any home entertainment setup. Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. As the eagerly awaited successor to the multi award-winning Philips OLED806 series (see HCC #323), the new OLED807 arrives burdened with the heavy weight of expectation. Can the manufacturer effectively evolve its OLED technology yet again? The answer to that, it turns out, is yes – this range usurps its illustrious predecessor in at least three major ways. But we're getting ahead of ourselves... OLED EX (anacronymof 'Evolution' and 'eXperience') uses deuterium gas and proprietary algorithm-based ‘EX Technology’ to boost brightness by predicting the usage amount of each individual diode based on your viewing habits. This apparently enables the screen to 'more accurately express the details and colours of the video content being played'.

Philips OLED807 has one of the so-called OLED EX panels from LG Display that is said to deliver up to 30% of additional brightness. Unfortunately, to reach 1000 nits on OLED807 you are still required to use one of the more dynamic modes that do not deliver accurate picture quality. It is possible to increase peak brightness in these modes because the color temperature of white is much higher (more bluish). In the Expert picture mode peak brightness lands on a more moderate 740 nits. It has a slightly brighter HDR presentation in the mid-tones than intended. Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. The moments where colour does become a little too aggressive are much less common in the latest Crystal Clear mode than they were in the previous similar Vivid mode, making it a much more usable preset right off the bat. In fact, it’s the picture preset Philips itself most wants you to use, as it gets the most benefit from all the image processing enhancements included within the P5 engine. As with the product it replaces, the 55OLED807 has a 2.1-channel audio system – some of which is visible on the TV’s rear panel. There’s an all-in total of 70 watts of power, driving four high/mid drivers and a subwoofer.

New additions to the P5 engine include an AI-based content classification feature that partners with a new Auto Film mode to deliver a better picture with detected movie sources, as well as an Ambient Intelligence feature that tweaks multiple picture facets to compensate for changes in the light conditions in your room. This is claimed to be more in-depth and sophisticated than the relatively simple ambient light compensation tools carried by most other TVs. The energy efficiency class/label provides general idea about the power consumption. There are different energy efficiency classes and each sets its own requirements regarding the power consumption. Some of the existent energy efficiency classes are A+++, A++, A+, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Philips’ tone mapping is clever enough to ensure that even the new, more intense HDR highlights don’t succumb to clipping (loss of subtle shading detail). In fact, the extra 100 nits or so more of native brightness the OLED807 finds on a white HDR window actually makes clipping less rather than more likely to occur.Subtitle and audio description information spoken on the electronic programme guide more info panel Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output The 807 range consists of four models with 48in, 55in, 65in and 77in screen sizes available. The design is elegant and the build quality is impressive for the money, but only two of the four HDMI inputs support all the features found on the latest gaming consoles. While the sound doesn’t stretch into the room a huge amount, there’s a good degree of width and height to the audio, making for an atmospheric presentation that manages to convey the openness of the stormy street outside Bill and Georgie’s house in It, and the echoey storm drain where Pennywise makes his first, disturbing appearance. As is de rigueur in the annual cycle of TV releases, the OLED807 has an upgraded processor when compared to its predecessor. The so-called 6th Gen P5 brings with it what Philips refers to as “Ambient Intelligence”. This basically involves the TV adjusting its brightness, colour and contrast based on ambient lighting conditions. It works rather like Dolby Vision IQ, and is most useful when used to prevent a loss of shadow detail when watching the TV in a well-lit room. Unlike Dolby Vision IQ, it works with all signal types, though TVs that do support Dolby Vision IQ tend to also have a similar solution for non-Dolby video signals.
