About this deal
Contents: 1 Warden King (Hero), 1 Cogsmith (Hero), 10 x Ironbreakers (Batteline) and 1 x Gyrobomber The Gnawshard– One of the bearer’s melee weapons gains this ability: if the weapon wounds a model that is not killed then at the end of each battle round that model suffers a mortal wound. Not going to get much mileage out of this unless you’re able to hit combat turn 2 or sooner. C Start a new Disciples of Tzeentch army or add to an existing one with this new Vanguard box. Led by a powerful Magister on Disc of Tzeentch, it includes 10 Tzaangors, 10 Kairic Acolytes, and daemonic support in the form of three incendiary Flamers of Tzeentch and three swift Screamers of Tzeentch.
You get to set up three Gnawholes. Gnawholes are pretty big and have pretty tight deployment restrictions: more than 3” from objectives and terrain features, more than 18” from another Gnawhole and wholly within 8” of a board edge (given the size of Gnawholes, this basically means touching a board edge).
This is a really versatile box as many of the units can be build in a different ways and can be slotted in to different Death lists depending on how they’re built. In a Flesh-Eater Courts army the big beast of the box (Terrorgheist/ZD) can be built as a standalone behemoth with a freestanding Ghoul King or as a mounted leader of either the FEC variety or as a Vampire Lord/the named Vampire Lord, Prince Vordrai. Any Hedonites of Slaanesh force is going to want at least one of these boxes, as when you first start out they can form a nice little core to your forces – but when you eventually develop out your forces to a full 2000 points you can phase some of these models out and use them as forces to bring on thanks to your summon mechanic – an essential buy in our opinion. The Verminus Command Traits are not fantastic, certainly not good enough to be worth throwing points at mediocre heroes over. Without wanting to dwell on the past – this used to be an ability that just handed the traits over without having to spend a heroic action, and it used to work on the Verminlord Warbringer, and nobody ever made use of it anyway. It’s worse now, so unless you are very committed to a specific bit, it probably isn’t going to be a mechanic you chase. Clans Skryre Warpstone Sparks
As is tradition, the Stormcast box gives you a couple of janky-sized units, but this time it’s not quite as bad. Palladors are one of the most mobile units in Stormcast and give Hunters are fine, but required in a couple of the best vanguard battalions. Who doesn’t love good doggos? Best looking Stormcast as voted in 2019. All and all – a solid box. A great value box and currently the only way to get the Bloodsecrator, Bloodstoker and Khorgorath. The contents of this box where the Khorne half of the original Age of Sigmar starter set and many people do/did (help me out here players) consider the Bloodstoker an autoinclude in Khorne armies. The final piece of the Vanguard is a unit of hulking Kroxigor. These lumbering brutes are monstrously striking, wielding weapons that can easily crush every bone in an Orruk’s body. They can alternatively be built as Kroxigor Warspawned, marked for war by the god Sotek. Finally the Deceiver’s warscroll spell is a turbocharged version of skitterleap from the main lore. With a CV6 (and 18” range if you wanted to use it on something else) and the same target requirements as regular skitterleap, this version instead lets you set up more than 6” from any enemy models, making those teleport charges far more likely to connect with your target. DeathmasterNot only are you saving money, but the boxes help you branch out into new units that are staples for the faction. For example, the Flesheater’s Start Collecting box gives you a Terrorgheist- a massive winged behemoth with Command Ability support. This is great in that those books while containing awesome art work and fluff, really do not hold up to the state of the game currently. So that being said it would not surprise me if we see a new release for the Skaven battletome that also contains the Skaven Pestilens, so let’s build a 1000 point starter army around them.
