I'd like to think she wouldn't have done these things if she hadn't been injured and traumatized, but like I said it's consistent with her reasoning from the very beginning of the story. Even at her most sympathetic, this character bothers me, because what happened *didn't just happen to her*. There's a murder investigation and in many ways she's obstructing it, and all because she values secrecy even over her own life, let alone anyone else's. Kaylene's best friend Samantha seems to be onto psycho nurse, but what does she do? She loudly announces her peanut allergy for psycho nurse to hear, and thus plan her murder.

I usually really enjoy Sophie Hannah's books and I would still recommend them to any new readers. Having said that, this particular instalment is the weakest I've read so far. Is Sophie Hannah a literary genius? Nah. But hey, all you haters — I invite you to try constructing a plot like this one: twisty, intricate, and relentlessly leave-'em-guessing. I was engrossed, and I admired this thriller all the way through. This story also hangs on some deliciously nerdy hinges: idioms, the way in which a native versus a non-native English speaker writes, and — be still my heart! — the perils of find/replace in MS Word.Unworthiness Level: 7. The men in this were worthless. A grown man was overpowered by a tiny lady, while a lady with a broken arm was able to over power the tiny lady who had a gun. Then there are the kids. I'm sorry, but if you're a close and loving family then the kids will want to see their mother at the earliest opportunity. However, Toby and Zoey, are only all too happy to not bother her. If it had been me, I would have been sneaking in to see her. You don't even see them at the hospital with her. If the writer and director had added a couple of extra scenes with the kids it would have made the story a little more believable and relatable. IF you can understand the art form that is melodrama, and you like that type of entertainment, you'll like this. If you are looking for lots of believable characters and motives in your TV movies, then give this a pass. There is a remark made by the sociologist about appearances being a matter of life or death to upper middle class families, so maybe the author is making a point about that too, but I doubt it. I just. Don't think much of the main character. I guess it's good that not every female lead needs to be a mega-competent Mary Sue, and it's great that Sally is human and flawed, but because I didn't think much of her I wasn't especially delighted at her happy ending.

Sally Thorning, part-time environment rescuer and full-time mother, struggles to maintain her sanity and juggle the overwhelming demands of work and home in this superior psychological mystery from British author Hannah ( Little Face I HATE movies that burn houses down. It's usually COMPLETELY unnecessary, (as it is here), and adds NOTHING to the plot. I know, I know, this is a visual metaphor for Vanessa's mental state, but it's not believable. Women tend not to destroy, or even make a mess when they kill themselves. Even with murder/suicides, women tend to use poison/water/etc., means that don't destroy the body. There are some chilling aspects to this story that will resound with great big warning bells going off letting you know that something definitely is not right with these two women...but figuring out what is half the fun! Faye is almost 40 and terrified that she may never have a child of her own. When she discovers an app that pairs like-minded adults, she jumps aboard. She soon meets Louis. He seems great except when she wants love, he wants only a child and treats this as a transaction. Desperate for a child, Faye agrees. Now Faye a year later, and with a baby in tow, she’s on the run. She runs right into the open house of Rachel, an older woman with a room for rent in her small cottage. However, it isn’t long before things don’t seem as perfect with Rachel as Faye thought. Is she hiding something? Is she safe? The way all the sub stories that had been carefully planted in the readers mind came together to make a powerful conclusionMaddie goes to school and tries to lie and say she is Nicole’s mom. Ms. Vivica A. Fox calls her a liar and says the title of the movie!!! Maddie grabs Nicole, takes her home, and sits on the couch with her… with a knife.

I thought the ending wrapped up the story perfectly. I may not have been completely wowed but I was definitely entertained. 3 stars! There is nothing ordinary about this tale that begins with an affair and ends in death. Whatever might seem to be a predictable scenario is soon found to be anything but, and as we struggle to add up the clues, hoping to finally understand what happened, we keep bumping up against the incongruities, the misdirection, until finally we are desperate just to understand what happened and why. Sixty four year returned teacher old Rachel lives in Helston village in rural Norfolk. She is lonely and has been since her mother died many years before. Which is why she's always taken in lodgers. But for some reason, none of them seem to work out. After her last lodger left under a cloud, Rachel advertises her spare double bedroom for rent once again. And Faye answers the ad under the name Fiona and Rachel assures her that having a newborn baby won't be a problem. Well, it isn't for Rachel but it soon turns out that it is for Faye. That thing with Stacey was convenient to how they solved the case and the reason why she came to Charlie's house wasn't brought up again. It was brushed away. The Characters, from unassuming to loud and voracious, Rachel being my favourite, I cant say why but she was an outstanding person to have in your minds eye when reading a story A disturbed woman, Vanessa Renzi, ( Brooke Nevin) hunts down the family who received her egg donation. She plans on reclaiming 'her family', the twins she believes belong to her, and the man who fathered them. If the woman who gave birth to them, Kaylene ( Vanessa Marcil), gets in her way, Vanessa will do whatever it takes to keep 'her' family together. Whatever it takes.... But a year later, Faye's dream has turned into a nightmare. She's on the run from Louis with baby Jake in tow, ditching her damp pokey flat and her beloved piano, in search of somewhere safe to hide. And then she sees an advertisement for a room to rent...
