About this deal

Single Version: at approximately 4:35 "Save a prayer 'til the morning after" is repeated four times until fade out. I absolutely love the melody of this song. It is so beautiful. What I love is the fact that despite being released over 20 odd years ago, the song still sounds fresh as does most of DD's songs. The somewhat tranquilizing melody combined with Simon's dreamy vocals make for a stunning song. In December 2019, Canadian electronic duo Bob Moses released a cover version of the song on their Unplugged EP.

I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Taylor, Andy (2008). Pure, unadulterated Duran Duran at their fast paced New Wave best! So well produced (of course), but also so melodic and irresistibly catchy. Video: at approximately 4:41 "Save a prayer 'til the morning after" is repeated 12 times until fade out. The only story about this one is that I was obsessed by a song in the seventies when I was a little boy called If You Could Read My Mind. Does anyone know that song, by Gordon Lightfoot? You know, "bout a ghost from a wishing well" "if you could read my mind, love" and you know there's that bit [sings this part] "don't say a prayer for me now" [from Save A Prayer, not If You Could Read My Mind] well it kinda comes from [singing again, getting you to hear how close the melody is] "and you won't read that book again" It actually inspired two songs, two Duran Duran songs and this is one of them, this is Save A Prayer" Kent, David (1993). HD] Duran Duran w/ Eagle Of Death Metal - "Save A Prayer" 10/30/15 TFI Friday. YouTube. 1 November 2015. Archived from the original on 21 December 2021. The synthesizer riff in the Video Version is repeated 4 times during the intro, while the synthesizer riff on the album and single version gets repeated only twice. My interpretation of the meaning is very simple - two lonely strangers meet up in presumably a foreign place (this I figured from the exotic location in the video) and hook up for one night with no intention to take it any further than that. On November 13, 2015 there was a mass shooting during the Eagles of Death Metal's concert at Paris' Le Bataclan, during which 118 civilians were killed by terrorists. In response to the atrocity, a campaign was launched to get the band's cover of this song to #1 (it stalled at #53). Duran Duran announced that they would donate proceeds from the American band's version to charity. In 2009, British singer-songwriter Kate Walsh released a cover version of the song on her album Peppermint Radio.
