About this deal

This product can be seen as very reliable when it comes to its performance. The product provides you with a very high-quality sound that can be easy compared to a home theatre. Despite its retro look, the audio speakers in this device are quite modern with advanced technology used. It is mainly due to the speakers’ small size that lowers the bass quality but still provides smooth sound quality. Also, these speakers work well with midrange frequencies. So, if you listen to acoustic, jazz, or indie music, the R1280T is the right speaker for you. Performance

The design of the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts might be the same but the quality of the sound is not. Upon playing and comparing the two Edifier speakers, the Edifier R1280Ts produces a strong bass and an impactful sound. Contrarily, the Edifier R1280T has a studio-quality sound; a sound with rich lows and bright clear highs. In other words, both Edifier R1280T and Edifier R1280Ts have decent sound. If you want your speakers to have natural sound, Edifier R1280T is a great choice. Otherwise, for an impressive impactful sound, Edifier R1280Ts can be chosen. Since I prefer speakers with stronger bass, Edifier R1280Ts rule my heart. Silk dome tweeters with a diameter of 13mm produce high-frequency detail. Although the upper-end highs are quite thin, they are well-balanced. Of course, with an optical audio port and a coaxial input joining the T models’ dual RCA inputs, you can physically connect these bookshelf speakers to four different devices and appliances at the same time. That not only makes it a perfect addition to a modest entertainment center where there might be a PlayStation or Xbox, a vinyl player, and another media player on top of the TV, but it also makes your entertainment experience a lot more seamless. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB produce a nice, punchy bass with its built-in subwoofer. The sound is rich and full while also being detailed and crisp. The sound feels larger than it actually is, probably due to the subwoofer. The Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts can connect to any stereo or home theater system up to 33 feet away. The speakers connect to the devices via: The remote sensing technology used in these speakers is quite strong, that you can use them from another room. The volume buttons on the remote work perfectly. However, if you want to control the speakers’ bass and treble, they are located on the side of the big speaker. Compatibility The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB are very chic and good-looking bookshelf speakers. Each speaker has a matte top panel with grills made of removable gray cloth material. They feature wooden housing on both sides of the speaker.

The only downside is that there is no stopping point to the volume knob. It takes complete revolutions, making it difficult to set the speaker at the lowest or the highest volume. Build What surprised us is how well these speakers kept up during testing. We spent about a week with these going through our daily life. We put them through tests that ranged from our morning routine playing pump-up top 40 music to quiet, acoustic wind-down music at night. In our tests, we ran these at only about half volume which was more than enough to fill our apartment. There is a nice body on the bottom end, much more than you’d expect from the driver size. This is most likely due to the design of the speaker enclosures and the materials used. There is a flared bass port out the front of each cabinet that measures just slightly larger than the tweeters, which seem to be doing a lot of work on the low end of the spectrum. But what’s also surprising is just how much detail is available on the higher end of the spectrum—something that is usually sacrificed with more bass in smaller enclosures. I used over 800 measurement point which was enough to compute the sound field of the speaker within 1% error. Both the speakers are small and lightweight, making them one of the most compact bookshelf speakers currently available in the market. Sound Quality All of the knobs, buttons, inputs, and even the standard speaker-wire clamps all feel high quality—much more so than we’d expect at this price point. We can't speak to years of use, but the sound, controls, and physical integrity of the speakers all felt as great at the end of the week, as it did at the beginning. It allows you to compare the performances of different speakers before even laying your ears hands on them. Even if you increase the bass to the highest, it won’t affect these speakers’ performance while maintaining the balance between treble and bass. Moreover, at moderate volume, the bass response will be powerful enough to balance the high-end frequencies.
