Hire Local Talent – Use local talent when looking for employees, as they cost less than people who need to be flown into work as well as cutting down on rental car/transit costs associated with foreign talent. Plus, they may know the area and customers better than foreigners would. For the first entrance to the President the player has to place it on the space with the green star. The Car Park space (also: Parking lot) at the start counts as one movement tile: every time a Player lands exactly on it (the tile with the red arrow) or rolls a 6 two times in a row, put the car in the Park slot of the right color and stop. The main difference in rents comes from players having to roll the die to determine how many days they stay in the hotel. In Monopoly you just pay a set amount based on how many houses/hotel are on the property. In addition to being able to upgrade your hotel, Hotels makes players roll the die to determine how much they pay. This roll is key as the difference between a one and six night stay can be huge for some of the properties. If a player keeps rolling high numbers they are going to have a hard time winning the game.

The game consists out of cardboard, three-dimensional hotel buildings, recreational grounds and entrance stairs that can be placed on the large game board. Place the other buildings, recreational facilities, entrances, and titles to the side of the gameboard. If the land is owned by an opponent, but no buildings are on it, you may buy it by paying the cost of the land to the owner: the owner's consent is not needed, and you take immediate possession of the Title Deed. The red player has landed on the build one phase free space so they can either add the main building, an extension, or the facilities to one of their properties. Adding Entrances If the player cannot afford to stay at the hotel they must put their own properties up for auction to raise money. A player who loses all of their money and properties is out of the game. The last player remaining is the winner.

This eventually leads to the game having runaway leaders. In a four player game one or two players will likely get out to a big lead. These players will likely be the players that get valuable properties and get out a lot of entrances for those properties. Once a player gets out to a lead they will use that money to make the property even more valuable and add more entrances. Eventually it will get to the point where it is almost impossible to avoid their property. You will then go bankrupt and they will end up buying your property at auction expanding their lead even further. Sadly I don’t see many games of Hotels ending in a close victory. Buy Supplies in Bulk – Buying supplies such as food, linens, toiletries, and cleaning materials in bulk will help you get a better deal as it is usually more affordable per item when buying larger quantities. When one player runs out of money and has no more property to auction off, they are eliminated from the game.
