For this model, Shark has included its PowerFins tech, which adds fins to the roller to really get into carpet fibres and agitate dirt. It’s also got Anti Hair Wrap tech, which really works to prevent hair from wrapping around the rollers. Compared to other models from the brand, you also get an extra anti-allergen brush plus a longer crevice tool to reach those tight spots. The brushes won’t need much cleaning because the anti-hair wrap guards should stop any hairs from getting tangled up in the rollers, but you might still want to give it a once-over every now and then.

There are three power modes to choose from (Eco, Standard and Boost), plus you can choose between carpet and hard floor modes, which adjust the speed of the floor head. This is far better than the old display, where you’d get a set of lights to indicate the rough level of charge remaining; but it isn’t as good as the Dyson V15 Detect, which shows you battery life in minutes. Detach the floorhead to comfortably reach ceilings, curtains and other high surfaces with the wand. Remove the wand to easily vacuum stairs, soft furnishings, car seats and other hard-to-reach areas with the extendable hose and included attachments. Lightweight and cord-free, it’s perfect for vacuuming car interiors. The Shark IZ300UKT is Shark’s latest cordless vacuum cleaner. Introduced in late 2021, it comes with a number of new features, chief among which is a new brush roller, which is lined not only with bristles but also “PowerFins” – stiff fabric flaps, arranged in a chevron, that agitate the fibres in your carpet much more vigorously than a brush alone. While raw power tells us a bit about a vacuum cleaner, real-world performance will largely come down to the quality of the accessories. Fortunately, Shark didn’t let me down.

On the plus side, Shark’s articulated “Flexology” elbow does make cleaning under low furniture very easy indeed, allowing you to stand up and swing the cleaning head underneath your cupboards and sofas from a standing position, without having to get down on your hands and knees. I then combed cat hair into the carpet and ran over it using the standard power setting. Again, everything was collected with ease. Anti-hair wrap: Like other models, this one is equipped with Shark’s special guard that stops hairs from getting tangled in the brush head. Although even for households without pets, we’d recommend the motorised pet tool as it lifted up dirt that we didn’t know we had from beds and sofas.
