About this deal

BSN Medical, the company that makes Leukotape, makes two different versions; Leukotape P and Leukotape K. If you don't wish to carry around a big roll of leukotape, you can wrap a section around a hollowed out and cut-in-half writing pen or wrap some around a lighter. You could even cut strips and put them on plastic-based film sheets. Apply it to the hot spot and rub it gently with your finger to warm it up and help the adhesive set. It’s best to apply several hours before exercise if possible to get a really tight bond, but not strictly necessary. I’ve often applied it while hiking and then resumed my trip without mishap. Notes on Use

Leukotape K | Performance Health®

Make field-friendly Leukotape strips using discarded mailing label paper, rather than or in addition to carrying the full roll. You can't apply leukotape if you don't have it on hand in the first place. And since you don't want to carry around the whole roll, you need a good way of storing it. Holding the plaster by the protective strips, place the wound pad so that it fits over the wound and then peel the protective strips off entirely. Press down the edges of the plaster to secure it. Early August 2017, as a few of us were heading to Katahdin to finish our thru hikes. We stopped at the Imp Shelter in Maine. They had just built this shelter, literally only about 1 month prior. Problem is, the roof was not completed, and we got hit by a monstrous rain storm. We now know that Leukotape can effectively stop leaks, as we spread a bunch of tape down the seam and simply watched the drips move along to the unsealed section. Just another dry night! Yahoo Leukotape! Ensure there are no gaps or creases between the tape and your skin, and never fully encircle your foot as it may restrict blood flow.Leukotape can be used to support and stabilise sports injuries, as well as stabilising and protecting weak muscles, joints or ligaments, without restricting movement or circulation. If you feel like you recognise some of the below plasters, you probably do – they used to be known as Coverplast. They are the same professional quality, just a new name. With over 100 years of experience providing premium-quality wound care solutions, Leukoplast (previously Coverplast) is the go-to brand for premium plasters, dressings and tapes. Pioneering from the very beginning, Coverplast invented the world’s first self-adhesive plaster tape in 1901, using zinc oxide and natural rubber. They have since continued to innovate and lead in their field and now provide a full range of wound care solutions for use both by medical professionals and for self-treatment at home. Leukotape is the miracle hybrid of zinc oxide tape and surgical tape. Zinc oxide gives Leukotape its adhesive and supportive qualities, while surgical tape provides the breathable fabric and pressure sensitive stability. Now Leukotape is the wonder foot tape of hikers and ultralight runners. I have been using Leukotape Classic for last 2 years, but when the roll was finished I decided to go with P, as it is stronger and more commonly ‘advised’ in the internet.

Leukotape for Hiking and Blister Prevention 101 – Greenbelly

Breathable - You shouldn’t leave it on forever, but unlike duct-tape the cotton-rayon material breathes pretty well. It can be left on for a lot longer without issues.Choose the right size plaster, making sure that the wound pad is slightly larger than the wound and that the shape is correct for the area of the body:

Affordable. With the ability to last for several days, leukotape can save time and cost. Found at most drug stores. Another big thing to make sure of is that you don't wrap the tape all the way around your foot. It doesn't stretch at all, so it can constrict blood flow and mess up your foot muscles. If you don’t use it often, I think a strip or two (12-24 inches) should suffice. And it weighs nothing, so why not add a second strip? When you really need it, it’s nice to have enough of it. Wax paper doesn’t work well as I discovered around 2011. I tried to use some from my kit and it wouldn’t peel off the wax paper.Leukotape is a type of sports tape that usually comes in a roll. Initially created for injury prevention and as a rehabilitation tape, it was used as a support adhesive to manage and provide stability to injured muscles and joints. Now, it is most commonly used as the first line in the fight against blisters. Maintain the tape’s full adhesiveness, which is compromised when it is touched or when it is re-rolled into smaller rolls; and, Leukotape K is similar to Kinesio Tape (or KT Tape) in that it stretches. It's great for athletes who need to maintain range of motion, but that stretch doesn't necessarily help prevent foot blisters. It's also .5 inches wider than Leukotape P, making it a little more difficult to place comfortably on your feet.

Leukotape® Classic

It’s hard to know what the trail will have in store for us on any given day, but it’s good to be prepared should accidents happen. If you develop a wound or skin irritation, Leukotape is a great bandage to last you until civilization, and will help prevent infection, too. Be sure to clean and dry the area before applying a strip of your new trail bff, Leukotape. Adhere the overflow sections to the other side of the label paper, to hold the strip in place. Unfortunately, these sections of tape are now trash. Remove the paper margins. http://www.bsnmedical.co.uk/en/products/orthopaedics/category-product-search-o/physiotherapy-bandages/strapping-tapes.html Tearable - You don’t want to have to pull out your knife or bring a special pair of scissors to cut your tape. Leukotape rips fairly easily in both directions (though I find it rips crossways better if you 'start' it by biting it). Tearable. The bandage is dirt and water repellent with a high tensile strength, yet easy to tear by hand either lengthwise or crosswise for convenience, with no need to have scissors on hand.Taping with Leukotape K can achieve pain reduction, regulation of tissue tone, improvement of innervation, improved lymph drainage, improved blood circulation, passive support (e.g. ligaments) and mechanical correction. You’ll first need to drain the blister (be sure to first sanitize the needle or safety pin you’re using to do this with alcohol). Then clean the blistered area with water and mild biodegradable soap (remembering LNT, and keeping your suds well away from water sources). Next, apply antibiotic ointment and cover the affected area with a Band-Aid or gauze. Finally, secure your bandage system in place with Leukotape, which will also prevent further rubbing as you proceed down the trail and act as a barrier against infection. The idea with Leukotape is that when you get a hot spot (a localized area of noticeable friction happening on your foot) you put some Leukotape on it before it has the chance to become a blister. The tape provides a barrier between your skin and whatever is causing the friction, stopping the blister from forming. First, let’s clarify what a “hot spot” is, versus a “bubbly blister”. A hot spot is the beginning of an oncoming blister at the initial sign of friction. Think of it as Phase 1 in the blister formation process. A bubbly blister is Phase 2, once the hot spot has fully formed into a mature blister. Each phase requires different management.
