Through the act of the will, moved by love, the human person is able to make and sustain an act of faith. This act of faith answers his questions and explains his awe. It places him within a complex struggle with various forces within himself and the world around him. If he stays on course and seeks the face of God, his act of faith will deepen and God will be able to work more profoundly. As the person grows in his faith, a deeper sense of God and of his own personhood is given. This unveiling displays to the person the simplicity of God himself. In his growing awareness, man sees ever more deeply God’s image in his own person, as well as his own capacity to enter into God. If he desires to enter God, he meets his mediator and guide. Christ, God-Man, who initiated the call and assistsits completion, encounters the person and allows him to enter the life of the Trinity Himself. The pattern across Greek, Roman and Jewish society was that men were the heads of households, and households were the primary economic unit. Women managed the internal affairs, while men managed the external ones. What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” Hebrews 12:1-3 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Remind a child in poverty that they can have faith and hope

How can Jesus be both God and man at the same time? How can Jesus be both God and man at the same time?

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? As we saw earlier, the fact that Christ is two natures means that there are things that are true of his human nature that are not true of his divine nature. And there are things true of his divine nature that are not true of his human nature. For example, his human nature hungered, but his divine nature could never be hungry. So when Christ hungered on earth, it was his humanity that hungered, not his divine nature. There is much confusion today over the nature of faith. It is reported that, when asked to define faith, a little boy in Sunday school responded, “Believing what you know isn’t true.” Many of the “new atheists” place faith against science and evidence. They say that Christians have faith that God exists but that atheists have empirical evidence for science. Christians have faith, but scientists have knowledge. This comparison misunderstands the nature of faith in God. Such violence, sometimes horrendously depicted as being tormented with fire, was deemed fair, because God is just and had made the options clear. This is a view many will still defend. To answer, let’s consider another question: Which Person became incarnate in Jesus Christ? All three? Or just one? Which one? The biblical answer is that only God the Son became incarnate. The Father did not become incarnate in Jesus and neither did the Holy Spirit. Thus, Jesus is God, but he is not the Father or the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God the Son. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Strong's 5100: Any one, some one, a certain one or thing. Ephesians 6:10 &16 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power… In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” This first circle is not enough, however, and needs a second circle to balance it. The second circle would be the special history that has defined the unveiling of God. By desiring to understand history and placing himself, as far as is humanly possible, in the position of those who have gone before him, the person wants to know their viewpoints, hopes and fears. This action by the person is a reaching out to the long-dead generations and a re-creating of their thoughts and words, allowing them to instruct and enlighten him about God. This is a difficult task but must be made because, as a God of history, the Trinity calls man, especially in the historical Person of Jesus Christ, to know Him and to comprehend His movements and self-revelation through the ages.Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works… What use is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him? The world today supports people who seek truth and who explore for answers to their questions; however, it shames those who claim to have found the truth and silences those who want to share the truth they have discovered with others. Further, the world permits lies to be presented as truth and half-truths to be argued as fullness. Truly, we live in an age of self-imposed untouchable truth, of lies and half-truths, of answerable questions left unanswered, and of supposed tolerant people who are viciously intolerant to assertions of truth. Where are we to go from here? Is there a direction beyond the counsel of this world and its fallenness? Mark 10:27 “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.’” What does it profit, my brothers, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
