WARNING: Do not believe what you read about two-way radios being able to do 10 Km, 20 Km or 30 Km. It's practically impossible unless you can achieve near perfect conditions and line of sight. Please read our article on two way radio range for more information. Radios will not be accepted for return based on range. Take a look at the bottom of the T92, and you'll notice that it has an LED torch fitted inside. That's a handy feature to have, since it saves you from carrying a separate torch with you if you're using the radios at night. If you drop the radio in water, then the torch will automatically switch on to help you find it.
On paper, the Motorola T92 offers up to 10km range. This puts it towards the very top end of what you can expect from a license-free radio. Of course, that's only the stated range, and not necessarily what you'll achieve in practise. To get a better idea of how they really perform, we tested them for ourselves. Select the white LED setting on the built-in flashlight to light your way during evening activities, unexpected emergencies or power outages. If your adventure takes place when it’s dark, for example, if you’re stargazing or hunting at night, and you need to view maps, charts or other papers, switch to the red LED setting.
