About this deal

The advanced temperature regulation module allows the TINI 2 to regulate its output and adapt to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance. Nitecore have this pegged as a keychain light, and it definitely fits the bill for that – unless your keyring only has one or two keys on it, the extra weight this adds is fairly negligible.

The Nitecore TINI2 is very beautiful. Nitecore has managed, through excellent construction and a well-designed design, to insert in a small space a well-readable OLED display, 2 light emitters (LEDs), 2 electronic switches and a USB-C charging port.

The OLED display the new TINI2 is equipped with is really well done and legible. Excellent operation and simple user interface complete with 5 levels and 2 modes of use managed by two switches.

However, there are still markings on one side, probably unavoidable due to regulations. There is the logo and next to it is CE compliance mark and a crossed-out “wheelie-bin” symbol. I did notice that the RoHS compliance mark is not printed on the TINI 2. Mode spacing appears to be progressively brighter to the eye and the modes are well spaced enough to be able to know which mode one is currently in. With that in mind, TLR tend to view mode spacing as battery life indicators (amount of runtime left) rather than the specific output (lumens).

Nitecore TINI2 has 5 brightness levels available with direct access to TURBO and ULTRALOW, it also has 2 user modes, DEMO Mode and DAILY Mode. Note: By being in DEMO mode and reactivating the flashlight within 3 seconds after turning it off, you will have temporary access to DAILY mode until you turn off the flashlight again. Turbo however – I didn’t expect it to hold for the whole 15 minutes advertised, but I didn’t realise it would only affect the output vs High so little. Effectively, Turbo slides down to effectively High over the course of 7 minutes, but then holds through until after 42 minutes, so you lose 5 minutes of runtime for seven minutes of increased output. Go figure! The keen-eyed among you may have already noticed that we said “basic” brightness levels. That’s because there is another level of brightness beyond 200 lumens called TURBO (yes, NITECORE has it in all caps), and to activate it, you simply long-press the mode button. I found a 100 year old company that would create these heirloom quality canisters for me. They are handmade and will keep your tea leaves, coffee beans or anything that you need dry for years to come.
