About this deal

Just as in the introductory adventure, information is delivered on a need-to-know basis. The copy itself is both uplifting for players and encouraging for new GMs, with a focus on faking it until you make it through your first few sessions.

Also it was released before the 5e core books, allowing groups to test out the system before potentially spending hundreds of dollars on a new game (especially after 4e lost many fans).I just hope that eventually we do have enough repeatable scenarios at levels 1-4 to gain 48xp, so 11 scenarios, allowing for 4 early bounties/quests. It is no rush as I have an idea of how long it takes to write such a creation, not to mention adding in the mechanics and then adjusting everything just so, to prepare for release. :D This is my wish for the far future, 4 more repeatable level 1-4 scenarios by the time Pathfinder is on Year 4 or 5. :D caps wrote: Planning to run this for my kids. Presumably I can use the other pregens in the box to make a legal table as long as there are at least two players?

Your group has succesfully completed the Beginner Box (or not. Maybe everyone died or you ended the game early for some other reason). Congratulations! If this is your first foray into tabletop RPGs, I sincerely hope that you enjoyed yourself and I hope that you’re looking forward to enjoying the hobby for years to come. Pretend it’s your birthday, because you’re about to open something really special. I don’t have a fun unboxing video, so you’ll have to settle for text or go watch Paizo’s official unboxing videa. I’ll give you a brief rundown of what’s in the box: The RestWhat’s left? Well, we have the fold-out maps, which are excellent and which absolutely require a full table to use properly. There are tokens for every monster that appears in the Game Master’s Guide, and even tokens for every ancestry/gender/class combination possible with the limited options available in the Hero’s Handbook. Also, some tokens with action and reaction symbols on them for use with the relevant spaces on the included character sheets. The Beginner Box is a "Pathfinder Adventure" run in "Adventure Mode" (what us grognards continue to refer to as "Campaign Mode"), which "allows the GM more freedom to adapt those adventures, including running the adventure in Pathfinder using GM house rules, and the ability to alter encounters and statistics found in the adventure."The easiest fix would be to swap 2-11 and 1-01 so you do your training in Pathfinder Trials, then meet the faction leaders in Absalom Initiation. Bag of Bases. Plastic bases designed to hold up the cardboard pawns for monsters and players. You don’t stringly need to use these, but it’s fun to see the adventurer’s pawns standing on the map. To begin with, the two rule books are of a good, but not daunting length for readers. The main adventure could be argued to be a little on the short side for more seasoned Pathfinder familiars, but the presentation is both attractive and intuitive with more than enough to get those gaming juices flowing new visitors. The adventure is well-written and provides plenty of opportunities for combat, exploration, and roleplaying. It also includes helpful tips and guidance for the game master, making it easy for even a new GM to run the adventure smoothly. As you run the adventure, I encourage you to read the full text of each area, as there are some fun hidden bits like traps and hidden treasure. I’ll also provide some specific suggestions for some of the adventure’s areas based on my own experience running the Beginner Box: The rest of the Game Master’s Guide is simply excellent material for a new GM learning the ropes, and indeed is a fantastic refresher for experienced GMs wanting a straightforward and concise presentation of the fundamentals of running tabletop games in general and Pathfinder 2E in specific. My only issue with this section is that there's more ogre art in line with their supposed foul and flabby nature. I can tell this was a deliberate choice because much of the rest of the monster art, specifically that of the orcs, is lifted directly from the Bestiary. I will keep my ogres beautiful and beefy, thank you very much.

Area #13: This area is weirdly described, and based on the game map the water appears to be in motion. It isn’t. It’s a stagnant pool that has settled into a low point in the floor. Take the first step into an amazing world of fantasy adventure! ThePathfinder Beginner Boxcontains everything you need to learn how to play the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, including rules to create your own fantasy hero and tools to make your own amazing stories. Will you be a courageous fighter, charging headfirst into battle, or a sly rogue, moving quietly to strike at foes from the shadows? If you are an experienced player (either in Pathfinder 2e or in other TTRPGs), you might consider player options beyond the beginner box. Discuss this with your GM and your group, and remember that if many members of your group aren’t experienced players bringing a complex character in the game may make it difficult for them to learn the rules. If you plan to play long-term, you can always start from a simple character and eventually replace them when your novice players have become comfortable withe the game.Area #14: This fight is pretty easy if the players realize that they can extinguish fire with water. It’s even easier if the players realize that the Cinder Rat can’t go into the water. As noted above, the Beginner Box is the perfect introduction into the world of Pathfinder. From there, we’ve put together a series of next steps leading adventurers to a career in the Pathfinder Society. First up, we recommend the upcoming Bounty titled The Road from Otari, scheduled to debut in January. The story builds on Menace Under Otari, leading your first-level characters from Otari to Absalom, where you arrive at the Grand Lodge to begin your career as a Pathfinder! From there, we recommend PFS 1-01: The Absalom Initiation, where new characters can meet the various important Society NPCs, and the upcoming PFS 2-11: The Pathfinder Trials, which gives a peek into how the Society trains its initiates. Post-training, a good start to the Year of Corruption’s Reach, this year’s metaplot, is PFS 2-01: Citadel of Corruption, or characters can dive into being Pathfinders via any other Pathfinder Society adventure! So far, no one has found them, even with a search of the PDF. Other ancestries are limited, but not human. Starting with the Hero’s Handbook, you’ll want to read the rules to get a basic understanding of the game’s rules. If the book is being passed around, the GM should go first because they’ll also need to read the Game Master’s Guide so they’ll need some time to do that.
