About this deal

What this isn’t is a no-sew curtains tutorial. I’ll get a little snobby here and say that using tape to make your curtains is not worth your time. You can sew DIY curtains easily in about 30 minutes. Sewing them is simple and fun, and hanging up something that you’ve created can make you feel proud of your own skills.

Sewing your own curtains is a great way to save money on home decor and get a custom look for your home. Read more about this easy method on how to sew curtains. The top hem of your eyelet curtains will sit around 2 in (5.1 cm) above the rod so you’ll need to factor in a little clearance when placing your curtain rod. Bigger windows in living rooms and bedrooms look best with the rod above the window and the curtains hanging to the ground. This can also make a room look bigger. Always make your lining shorter than your fabric. Curtains can expand and contract with changes in temperature, and you don’t want the lining poking out the bottom (which happened at my parents’ place!). Stitch the full length of the curtain from hem to top, with a flat stitch and a half inch seam allowance. Carefully press the seams open then turn the curtain to the right side out.If you have a sewing machine, especially if you’ve just bought it, making curtains is a great project. If you’re using a directional or patterned fabric, be sure to orient your rectangle in the right direction. JoAnn actually has a really good selection of home decor fabrics. With their sales you can usually come out pretty well in price/yard. I’ve also done really well at Hobby Lobby. Their cotton canvas prints are a really nice quality. That little bit of straight line sewing and time investment will give you a curtain that’ll last for years in your home. And since you have to look at it hanging on your window for years to come, do it the right way with a sewing machine! *end rant*

Stitch Bedding, Stitch Bedding Set And Pillowcase, Funny Stitch Bedding Set, Stitch Duvet Cover, Stitch Decoration Home, Stitch Lover Gift Sewing curtains is definitely an easy project, but you may have difficulty using sewing machines or needles and still be interested in homemade curtains! On the WRONG side, press over the top by 3 inches (7.5cm) and then 3 inches (7.5cm) again to form a double hem. Stitch across the bottom of the hem to form a casing. Curtains can look nice in a number of lengths. Yours could fall just below the bottom of the windowsill or you could have them graze the floor. It’s totally up to you! [6] X Research source
