Press the tip of the pen onto the stain several times to release some stain remover onto the stain. The Tide To Go Pen didn’t work on all stains, but it was effective enough for some that I recommend it. You’ve been there before: you sit at the coffee shop across from a friend when your elbow slips on the table. Suddenly you’re wearing your latte on your favorite pants. When treating the stain at home, keep in mind the type of food or drink that made the stain. For example, a greasy stain may require hot water, whereas a wine stain may require cool water. 2. Wash the Item Typically, a couple of fast presses with the tip is enough to release enough solution. You don't need to press down all the time. Instead of pressing the tip down at an angle as if you were writing or rubbing the stain with the tip, press it straight down.

I’ve used many stain removers and know there isn’t one miracle product on the market that will remove all types of stains from every fabric type. The Tide To Go Pen didn’t work on all stains, but it was effective enough for some that I recommend it. Even the stains that weren’t eliminated entirely still improved considerably. Since this pen has a small and narrow point, it is best for spot treatments rather than larger, ground-in stains. Ink is dye-based with added pigments. Coffee and wine both contain tannins. Chocolate hazelnut spread is a trifecta of staining agents: tannins, oil, and protein. In addition, the sugar in wine and chocolate adds to the difficulty because of its ability to eat away at the fabric with which it’s bound.Treat the stain further if needed. Use another pretreatment stain remover product at home if you find that the Tide to Go Pen hasn’t effectively removed the stain. Do this as soon as you are able, and before you machine wash or dry clean your garment. Test the pen on a hidden portion of fabric. Make sure the fabric of your garment will not react negatively to the solution in a Tide to Go Pen. Before using it on your food or drink stain, test it out on another small area of fabric that is not easily visible on your garment. Make sure you’re prepared to face unexpected stains with the Tide to go stain pen. Tide to go is an instant stain remover designed to help eliminate some of the toughest fresh food and drinks stains on the spot. Thanks to its powerful cleaning solution, this easy-to-handle stain removing pen gets small stains out of your clothes before they set in. Best of all, Tide to Go travels easily to stop stains on the spot.

We don’t just have money to go buy new jeans and I’ve been waiting a while for these and now they’re completely ruined 😭 This pen is easy to use and comfortable to hold. To release the cleaning solution, press down on the tip and brush it across the soiled area like an eraser. The pen's clever design reduces the risk of a spill. You won't get any of the cleaning solutions on my hands, which was a problem I had with gel formulas. The highest-rated products are advertised to work on the widest variety of stains: tannins, oils, proteins, and dyes. This is evident in the names of many of the products; for example, “oxy” stands for oxygen-based, and “enzyme” represents protein stain fighters. Depress the tip of the pen to release solution. Uncap the pen and press the tip onto the area of fabric where your stain is located, until enough solution comes out to cover the area of your stain. When an oily substance hits fabric, the molecules bind to the surface material in the same way tannins do. However, because it is not water-soluble (like the familiar cliche, “oil and water don’t mix”), a simple run through the washing machine won’t successfully break up the stain. Oil and fat-based stains like butter, olive oil, and grease can be especially stubborn on fabrics. Powerful solution breaks stains down; microfiber pad lifts and absorbs them. Works well on tomato juice, ketchup, BBQ sauce, grape juice, coffee, wine, tea, chocolate syrup, and more.

Remove the cap and push the tip firmly against the area you wish to test until a little amount of solution comes out. Of course, five to ten minutes is a smaller time frame for the pre-treating process, which makes the other products appear easier than OxiClean. Unfortunately, these products did not measure up to the simple soak that OxiClean offered in ease or effectiveness. Rub the stain remover until the stain begins to fade or disappears completely. Make sure you're getting enough solution, gently rubbing the stain with the tip over all surfaces. Rub the stain with the pen tip, then wait several minutes until the solution has mostly dried on the fabric. The stain on your garment may appear slightly discolored, show faint residue from the solution, or have a tiny odor after treatment with the instant stain remover. All of these will usually be resolved with additional washes. 6. DryingOnce you're done using this instant stain remover, it is time to clean the garment. Here are the steps you should follow; 1. Treat the Stain Again (If need be) Tide to Go is the portable, instant stain remover that helps eliminate many fresh food and drink stains on the spot. Keep a Tide to Go in your briefcase, car, purse and kitchen -- everywhere you encounter stains. Follow any instructions on your individual stain remover product, as they may vary in their application.

Once we were fully researched on the chemistry of stains, we moved onto understanding stain removers. Which have a positive reputation? What chemicals are used? How does each product work? Do the products perform better on certain stains than on others? Are most stain removers similar in design? If the Tide to Go pen doesn't remove the stain completely, try a different pretreatment stain remover before you machine-wash or dry clean your outfit. Follow the instructions on your specific stain remover product, as they may differ depending on how they should be used. Furthermore, magnesium sulfate, often known as Epsom salt, aids in the speedy drying of the region. The Tide pen works best on stains like bbq sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato juice, grape juice, coffee, wine, and many fresh food items and less so on protein stains like blood or grass. Though cleaning products don’t have to list all of the ingredients on the bottle, a little research gave us the following information about the chemical makeup of stain removers: Uncap the pen and press the tip onthe stain-affected region of the fabric until enough solution comes out to cover the stain. What this means is that even though OxiClean is an oxygen-based stain remover and should work best on stains caused by coffee and wine (tannins), it successfully broke down dyes and the complex chocolate spread stain with protein and oil, as well. We’ll be honest: We’ve been burned by stain remover pens before. They often dry up before we can ever use them and seem to smear the stain more than actually remove it. OxiClean changed our minds. While it—like most stain-fighters—struggled to remove the foundation, the little pen did a decent job removing the other stains. Even with some pretty intensive scrubbing, our tester found that it didn’t damage the fibers in the shirt at all. Know your stains and fabrics. Knowing the stain and fabric will always help assess the difficulty of the situation. Are you dealing with hot or cold liquid? Is the article of clothing dry clean only? These questions will help you figure out where to start. The bottom line Use a dry and clean cloth, napkin, or towel to gently blot at the fabric. There may be some visible residue of the solution after it’s dry, which will go away when you wash it later.
