About this deal

Ahhhhh I am in love with this post. Having been living outside of Turkey for many years, Turkish tea is one of those things that I missed the most. Like you said, it is a way of life. The kind that you can find anywhere else, but in Turkey. I love the post. I just bought the tea maker and the glases yesterday. I wonder how long can the tea stay in a pot ? And does it get stronger by reheating it or just staying in a pot for a few hours ?

There is a reason why tea in Turkey is served in special tulip-shaped glasses. To enjoy the drink hot for as long as possible it takes a special shape. Tulip shape gives an easy grip of the glass. Tea gardens ("chai bahchesi" in Turkish) on the other hand are both for men and women. There are tea gardens in large parks, in restaurants, in touristic areas, in sleeping districts.Traditionally we brew Turkish tea in authenticTurkish tea pots. Turkish pots for tea have to pieces. One at the bottom is larger than the one on the top. You boil the water under and while the water is boiling, you add loose Turkish tea leaves into the pot on it. You wait for 10 minutes so that the tea leaves at the top get warm and then pour hot water slowly. Allow the Turkish tea to steep for 15-20 minutes. The country’s tea preparation of choice embodies a hybrid way to create something distinctly Turkish. The double tea pot resembles the samovar from Russia, the preference for loose leaf tea closely resembles the ones in China and beyond. Some people hate it when they see tea leaves floating in their tea, so they use a small sieve when pouring tea into their glass, but I don't think it's necessary when the tea is finely brewed. Tea leaves stay at the bottom of the tea pot or go to the bottom of the glass then.

The Filiz tea is a light and delicate tea, while the Caycicegi is a bit more full-bodied. This set is a great way to try both and see which you prefer. Turkish tea is usually enjoyed leisurely — over breakfast, over a hour-long meetings or in the evenings with family and friends. Moreover, only one glass of tea is usually not enough for these situations. Turks often want seconds, thirds and even more and the occasion doesn’t matter – tea is an integral part of the culture and life in the country. The province of Rize is considered Turkey’s tea capital. The area’s mild climate and green mountainsides make it the ideal location for tea plantations to harvest these tea leaves.

When it is brewed, you can serve it in Turkish tea glasses or tea cups. There is a certain way of doing this. Fill the quarter of the glass with brewed tea and then complete it with boiled water from the large tea pot. Adjust the amount of tea depending on how you like your tea -strong or lighter. And it is up to you to add sugar into your glass or not. Caykur Teabags are the savior of those who do not have the time to steep a delicious, steaming tea but still want to enjoy the delightful acridness of Turkish Tea. Turks will also refill their guests’ cups as part of their Turkish hospitality. If you’re done, put your teaspoon on top of your tea glass to let your host know.

A Turkish tea garden or tea houses are loud, social places unlike their Japanese counterparts. They are not quiet or serene, but rather hubs of social activity and often with children running around, young and old. Large cities and touristic places often do welcome foreigners as well.
