I thought that I loved Viola Davis before reading this book, but my goodness this book was exceptional in every single way and it made me appreciate her even more. CW: depictions of domestic violence, sexual assault, poverty (poor living condition, hunger, and more), death of loved ones This, her fourth nomination, made Davis the first actress of color to be nominated four times and twice in both acting categories. This book flew by. Viola is an amazing storyteller and I bet she would be just as amazing writing fiction.
