The 2104Dis a good choice for sewers who just want the main 3 or 4 thread stitches, easy threading, and don’t want to spend too much. Good price update: I don’t think the M343D is an old model anymore. I came across a Brother social media post in 2020 (that I can’t seem to refind) that said it was new? I’ll need to look into this more closely.If you are sewing on lots of stretch or knitted fabrics, then the 2104D is the perfect accompaniment to your sewing machine. It can be used as a 3 or 4 thread machine. The Brother 2104D will trim, edge and neaten for that professional finish which won't fray or unwind. To adjust the thread tension there is a thread tension dial for each needle thread, the lower looper thread and the upper looper thread. My Review Of The Brother 2104D Overlocker Sewing Machine

I don’t think the extension table is a necessity. I sew knits without an extension table and haven’t had distortion problems. I timed how long it took 2 people on Youtube to thread the lower loopers of the Brother 4234Dand Janome 8002D. (The videos are by Ken’s Sewing Centerand Syakademiet). The stitch illustrations (pictured above) are really helpful when figuring out why your stitch doesn’t look right. The pictures help you identify which needle or looper thread is the cause, and then you can adjust the tension to fix it. At 5 – 6 mm high, the 2104D will be able to get even more underneath. What can fit under a 4mm high presser foot? 8 layers of medium to heavy weight denim (each fold is 2 layers). I’m using the Brother 4234d, not 2104d.
