The Honor Magic 4 Lite is respectable device for its price. It offers a sizeable 6.81-inch display that boasts a 120Hz refresh rate. It's a typical LCD display with some poor viewing angles at times, but other than that, it looks good. The battery capacity could be a little higher for a premium phone and it's a fingerprint magnet, but other than that, the Honor Magic 4 Pro is still tremendous in almost every way. In fact, since Huawei sold the Honor sub-brand in 2020, Honor's flagship handsets have often proven some of the best phones, period. For instance, the company's latest premium offering, the Honor Magic 5 Pro, boasts some of the best display and camera credentials money can buy in 2023 (read our Honor Magic 5 Pro review for our full thoughts on that device). There is a lot to like about the Honor20e. You may not get 5G connectivity or WiFi 6, these are features reserved for flagship smartphones but it is still nippy. Camera performance is better than expected. Low light performance gets a helping hand with Super Night mode, but only if the subject stays relatively still. The AI assisted triple lens rear camera does come into its own and is one to steal the show here. We had such fun taking photos with the phone. The main shooter is a 24MP camera with wide aperture F/1.8 lens with Quadra CFA sensor capable of 480fps Super Slow-motion Video capture, Super Night Shots and 1.8um ISO enhancement.

The phone's always-on display doesn't always work as intended, but when lit up, it's very bright and vibrant. Again under the performance heading, we ran 3DMark benchmark, the Sling Shot Extreme and as expected, the Honor 20e scored a middling 1080. The average for all Android devices is 2140. Sling Shot Extreme is a demanding benchmark. As such, even with an OpenGL ES 3.1 score of 989, it still outperformed 72% of phones in this test. From the main screen there’s the usual Android experience and everything you see can, of course, be altered to your taste. I switched out the keyboard (I prefer the Gboard from Google) and removed the Google search widget which is in the lower-middle part of the screen here..

You also get all the Google apps, so the fully-featured YouTube app, the Google Maps app, Gmail and so on – right out of the box… There’s the usual plethora of settings, including eye comfort,smart screen resolution changing (to maintain power), colour settings – even the ability to remove the network name if you don’t want that showing. All of this (and a whole lot more) can be accessed just by sliding down from the top.. We’ve looked at a number of Honor devices lately. The Honor 9X and the Honor 9A– both very good phones considering how cheap they are. If I was to choose a colour though, I’d definitely go for the Phantom Blue – it just has a more individual appearance. It is important to strictly use Honor authorised repair services. The Honor Magic 4 Pro was the first flagship device produced by Honor after it parted from Huawei in 2020, and it remains a resounding success to this day. What's more, given the arrival of its successor, the Magic 5 Pro, the Magic 4 Pro is now cheaper than ever. This, though, is a new Honor phone which does have all the Google apps and Google Play. Basically this is because it’s been slid through as a “tweak” to the Honor 20.
