Automatic Temperature Control – Regulates heating to ensure the inner pot remains within a safe temperature range, based on the program.

Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Smart Cooker, 3L - Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot silicone sealing rings can be used in any matching size of Instant Pot pressure cooking lid. Feed up to 6 people with its spacious 6-portion capacity – perfect for easy weekday meals, family dinners, entertaining and even batch cooking The Instant Pot has more than enough functions for the everyday home cook and does all of them pretty well for the price. There are cheaper options on this list but they don’t deliver such consistent results, so if you can stretch to it, this offers an almost perfect balance between performance and price. When pressure cooking, choose between low and high pressure and for all other programs there are three settings to choose from: less, normal or more - with a table in the instruction manual detailing what each setting is designed to achieve. It’s also simple enough to adjust cook times using the plus and minus buttons on the front so you can customize each setting to suit your requirements. You may or may not have heard of the Instant Pot before. The brand has a cult following in the US but is less well known here in the UK. In fact, Instant Pot’s following is so huge in America that the name is now synonymous with any multi-cooker appliance, much like the hoover is to the vacuum cleaner. The appliance offers 14 pre-set “Smart Program” buttons: Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Poultry, Rice, Sauté/Simmer, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Slow Cook, Keep Warm, Yogurt, Pasteurization, and Pressure Cook. These buttons are designed for specific ingredients or dishes and require frequent consultation with the manual to decide which cooking level (less, normal, or more) must be used. For example, it’s not recommended to cook brown rice with the rice program. Instead, it works best with the Multigrain program, which adds a soaking period to the cook time. The soup button is designed to bring the contents to pressure slowly, resulting in clearer soups. And as we said before, the steam button brings the contents to pressure fast. The Duo does everything you can do with 7 other appliances: pressure cooker, saute pan, steamer, slow cooker, rice cooker, food warmer, and yoghurt maker. Clear the clutter from your counter and do it all with just one tool.

No matter how large your family or how big your needs are, the Duo comes in the right size for you. When preparing side dishes or cooking for 1 or 2 people, the 3L mini is the Duo for you. For families up to 5, go for the 5.7L (our most popular model!), and for larger families, parties, or full-week meal prep, the big 8L is the smart choice. This pressure cooker review isn’t all flowers and sunshine; it points out the negatives too. Although the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 does a great job on many fronts, it turns hot outside during cooking. The trouble is over because it can cook up to five different dishes at once. Just put the ingredients in the cooker and program it according to your wish. The steamer will allow you to prepare fresh vegetables within the span of 3 minutes and the potatoes can be perfectly steamed within 15 minutes. The stew will simply take an hour, and boy will your Greek yogurt taste good! What a great time saver you have in your kitchen, right? The Duo Evo Plus is a fair bit pricier than the classic Instant Pot Duo, but its additional features make it a more than worthy upgrade. Improved safety, pressure and steam features, as well as the new 48 presets, make it difficult to go wrong with this multi cooker. Its smooth-running digital interface is a joy to use and actively encourages you to switch up the things you cook in it. In fact, I found myself experimenting more in the kitchen because of it.

On the face of it, the Instant Pot Duo Nova is very similar to the Instant Pot Duo, with the same selection of one-touch programs, but it benefits from a steam release valve that automatically closes when you close the lid, making it even easier to use and securing it a place on our list of the best Instant Pots. If you want a delicious meal, you have to be mindful of its time to cook that dish. One of the best features of this gadget is that it comes with a programmable timer with a great range. The delay start comes in handy if you want to get your dish prepped and ready but don’t want it to start cooking quite yet. We loved this feature for preparing oatmeal the night before so it was ready when we woke up. The Instant Pot allowed us to delay cooking by 10 minutes up to 24 hours. However, we can’t think of a time when we’d want our food sitting in the pot for 24 hours before cooking—certainly not if we were cooking anything with meat or dairy.

An affordable Instant Pot best suited for beginners

You might think you can just get your hands on any instant pot; however, that isn’t the case. Every kitchen gadget comes with unique features. For your convenience, we're on hand to bring you an honest and in-depth review of the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6 Qt Digital Slow Cooker. For features, the Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid offers all the classics, with settings for pressure cooking, slow cooking, sautéing, steaming, air frying, baking, grilling, roasting, dehydrating, proofing and yoghurt making – while its new sous vide mode helps it stand out from the crowd. Performance wise, it produced some very impressive results with many of these settings, with the Duo Crisp’s air frying, pressure cooking and sautéing drawing particular praise. Overall, we found the Instant Pot Duo Crisp difficult to separate from the brilliant Ninja Foodi 11-in-1 SmartLid, aside from the former being a touch more affordable.

We reviewed the 8-quart/ 7.6-liter model which measures 14.5 x 13.5 x 14.8 inches/ 36.8 x 34.3 x 37.6cm (h x w x d) and is a similar size to other large capacity multi-cookers we’ve reviewed, but as we've already mentioned it’s also available as a 6-quart/ 5.7-liter option, and in the US and Australia, there’s a smaller 3-quart/ 3-liter version available if you have a small family or you’re short on space. The keep warm button works well for maintaining serving temperature for cooked dishes; it’ll stay on up to 10 hours. It automatically turns on when you start cooking, but you can turn it off so that when you need the pressure to come down naturally, the keep warm function won’t slow the process. Step up your cooking game The main features of the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker Feature #1: Digital Coundown Contol System The recipe booklet, on the other hand, was a little less impressive. The photos accompanying the recipes weren’t very attractive, and it was clear the recipes weren’t designed for that particular Instant Pot (some even had instructions for stovetop pressure cookers). The Instant Pot app also has more than 1,000 recipes to choose from, but none seemed particularly appealing. Creamy delicious pasta. Photo: Pexels What we don’t like about the Instant Pot 7-in-1 Electric Pressure CookerThe Instant Pot Duo Series uses the latest 3rd generation technology with an advanced microprocessor that monitors the pressure and temperature, keeps time, and automatically adjusts heating intensity and duration. Even the volume of food is taken into consideration, ensuring that your meals turn out perfectly, every time.
