To access the water tank, you just pull the two large handles at the front of the unit. Although a word of warning, the water tank can be heavy when full, so you’ll need a steady hand to walk to the sink as it’s easy to splash the water around. However, you don’t need to fiddle with any lids or covers as I encountered with other dehumidifiers, with the Meaco you just pour the water away via a little outlet at the side of the tank. Overall a really easy experience. Don’t use an electrical appliance in a bathroom, just open the bathroom door and run the machine in the hallway instead.

Meaco has made the Arete One easy to use. Via the control panel on the front, you can set the target relative humidity, between 40% and 70%. I’d aim for 50% in most cases, although a higher setting, such as 60%, can help reduce running costs. When running, it shows the current humidity level. If the source of moisture is coming from the one location then you should buy one larger dehumidifier, if you feel that you have moisture coming from say the kitchen and drying laundry downstairs and the bathrooms upstairs, then I would buy two smaller dehumidifiers. The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier's Smart Laundry mode also makes it one of the best dehumidifiers for drying clothes that I've tested. If you need a dehumidifier for a big space or want to dry laundry, I’d really recommend the 25l model. But if you’re looking for something to move around this house regularly, a smaller Meaco like the MeacoDry ABC might be a better choice. The 25l Arete is quite big and heavy, and even though it has wheels, it’s not really made for lugging up and down the stairs.The MeacoDry Arete One 12L dehumidifier is a great buy for apartments or small to medium-sized houses, and it’s easy to move from room to room thanks to the extendable handle and castors, and compact enough to store easily when not in use.Larger homes, or those with more serious damp issues, may benefit from opting for the MeacoDry Arete One 20 or 25L which offer the same great functionality with an increased extraction capacity.
