It only takes a few minutes to mix, microwave and top these hot chocolate puds with ice cream and liqueur for a rich, indulgent dessert As far as microwave cakes go, I am so often underwhelmed with the result. But this self-saucing mug pudding is definitely an exemption. It's rich, fluffy, and moist; it even rivals the classic oven-baked version! Why is my pudding overflowing? If your pudding overflowed, you are using a mug that is too small. Use a mug which is at least 350 mL (12.5 oz), or use a small microwave-safe bowl. If your pudding starts to overflow, stop the microwave and let the pudding sink down, then resume cooking. If you only have self-raising flour you can use that. If using s-r flour, you can add a pinch of baking powder or bicarbonate of soda for extra rise, but that's optional. I will be the first to admit it isn’t the prettiest of puddings when it’s still in the mug, but you can definitely just pour the sauce straight over it once it’s cooled and eat it directly from the mug.

In a large mug (350 mL / 12.5 oz capacity or larger), stir together flour, brown sugar and cocoa powder until well combined. Add milk and oil and stir until well combined. Flour: you can substitute ¼ cup self-raising flour with ¼ cup plain flour combined with ½ teaspoon baking powder. Oh no! That’s a shame. I know some microwaves have different strengths. If you make it again, try cooking for shorter times until it’s cooked. Thanks for letting me know. Have a look at our Best School Puddingspost for some absolute British school dinner classics. All you need now is pink custard! Next, you’ll add the butter and microwave for another 30 seconds to help it melt. You may not need that long if your butter is already room temperature, it just needs to be melted enough to stir in. Then stir in the sugar and leave to cool a little.

These fluffy, moist little microwaved puds combine ground almonds and chunky marmalade with cream, olive oil and eggs. Top with a sharp orange syrup and finish with cream. Delicious!

Use a large mug, not a smaller tea cup. I mean you can try the smaller tea cup, but you might find half the pudding decorating your microwave. A good size mug or cup, that you might serve soup in is best. To make it self-saucing: sprinkle brown sugar and cocoa powder evenly over the batter. Slowly pour over boiling water. Hi M.Bedir. Thanks for your query. Not quite sure what could've gone wrong but if you ensure you just mix the SR flour, sugar, milk and cocoa together first (not too much though) and then carefully sprinkle the extra cocoa, brown sugar and hot water on top, it should work. It is very moist or 'fudgey' and unlike regular cake. I hope you give it another try and some success. Thanks for letting me know. Anne xx Why did my pudding overflow? I've been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, yet I never discovered any interesting article like yours. It is beautiful value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more helpful than ever before, i hope you see my blog at International DecorSugar: you can substitute brown sugar with white or caster sugar. Please note brown sugar makes the pudding softer and richer.
