Excellent lamp I'd been needing a lamp for close work while painting and couldn't find one that I really liked until this one. Things I like: 1) you can change the brightness level, 2) you can configure it in multiple ways (I chose floor lamp style, but you can also make it a table lamp), 3) you can run it on batteries or from the mains, and 4) it has a built in caddy tray you can put things in.

FUNCTIONALITY– choose a lamp that is easy to put together or dismantle in case you need to. Also, consider where you usually like to stitch. If most of your stitching happens at a desk then a desk magnifying lamp might do. But if you like a more comfy location, stitching while sitting in an armchair or a sofa then you will need a floor stand or a lamp with a table clamp. Our ranking system The TopChoice.co.uk Team selects top-of-the-line items from a wide selection and conducts rigorous evaluations on almost all the products available on the internet. We rank each product based on how well it matches our criteria. Magnifying Lens] The head of the lamp has a 13cm rimless magnifying lens incorporated in it. The lens has 2x magnification. There are 24 long-lasting LED bulbs spaced around the magnifier. Diopter lens for distant vision provides 225% magnification and the 20 Diopter lens for near vision provides 600% magnification

Good hobby light. Don't forget this is dependent on G type clamp which restricts where it can be positioned - I had four attempts to find a suitable location, and bear in mind the clamp has be tightened enough for it to be secure and could damage any wood surfaces. I therefore attached the light to a shelf where this didn't matter, and also had the advantage this gave me more flexibility to adjust the Anglepoise features. The magnifier is my only quibble -- it's good but doesn't seem incredibly in focus somehow (but maybe that's my eyes -- I only wear glasses for distance and leave them off at my desk, but maybe there's something there that makes it a bit out of focus. It is great for sewing and embroidery, jewellery-making, knitting and other close-up, detailed work, as well as reading. As well as illumination, this lamp offers a 6-inch optical quality glass lens with 2x magnification. See clearer, effortlessly. The magnifier has an optical quality lens that offers three and five times magnification. See the finest of detail with perfect clarity, allowing you to work for much longer without straining your eyes. There is less glare from the light, ensuring less damage is done to long-term vision.
