Isolde,” he repeated quietly, and when I finally met his gaze, his stare was gentle. “You are my light.” I took his face between my hands. “You are my darkness,” I said and kissed him.” I’m not sure what could have been done to improve the story’s flaws. Isolde would require a personality transplant, which will never happen. And she couldn’t go from one of these four characters betrayed you to trusting any of them until they proved otherwise. That would be stupid of Isolde. So, the only thing that could have made it more powerful was if we had explored that element through Adrian. For over 200 years, those were his closest companions. He trusted those people, and some of them betrayed him. But we got all of those moments from Isolde rather than Adrian. As she experienced the turning point. Because, as previously stated, she is Adrian’s weakness, they were always going to go after her instead of him. So, I’m not sure how that would’ve been accomplished if we had more of Adrian’s point of view. As we would have missed the event.

Queen of Myth and Monsters is a modern masterpiece, a powerful novel that can be read on its own. This novel is written by Scarlett St. Clair. She is a true storyteller, and Queen of Myth and Monsters is her best book. It is an epic tale of family, secrets, loss, marriage, betrayal, friendships, laughter, and regrets. Queen of Myth and Monsters is a heartfelt novel written with compassion and hope, reconciling the past to pave a road to happiness and second chances. The characters in this novel bring life and heart to this story, each with a distinct voice and personality. They made readers love them, they made readers sad, they made readers angry, they made readers laugh, they made readers cry, and they made readers believe in the promise of love and home. But I also felt like her only way to solve issues with Adrian was to have sex, weird to me. I was also wondering where Miha went the whole book but I may not have remembered if she was mentioned in the beginning and didn’t play a role until mentioned right at the very end. There is no understanding it,” Adrian said. “Because it is hate, and hate can exist with no reason.” Thank you NetGalley, Tantor Audio and Recorded Books for sharing this audiobook with me. This is a story you don't want to miss. Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka.

Check-In

ALSO the fact it’s mentioned 2x max about her shade shifting or actually changing is so stupid. I’m mad at Scarlett just added the most random shit to just add it. A former slave fighting for justice. A reclusive warrior who no longer believes it exists. And a dark magic that will entangle their fates. Things I like? I always love Isolde and her murder-y ways and vibes. She's an antiheroine who is very confused by her new life and is trying to find a way to adapt but stuff keep happening. I always want heroines like her where they're not afraid to dirty their hands and love doing it.

Adrian is losing control of himself because the goddess Dis is controlling him more and more. As Dis is enraged at Adrian’s desire for freedom after being reunited with Isolde. He can’t be set free unless someone uses magic against him to break Dis’s hold on him, which doesn’t happen in this book. However, it is something that many people are afraid of. Which is why they go after Isolde, who is his only weakness. Adrian will die if Isolde dies. Thanks for the review! Would you be able to tell me which chapter (or spoil the story) on the infant loss trigger in this book? I want to read the book but need to skip that trigger.Such a great instalment. And after reading the author’s note I feel like we share the same opinions. If you’ve read any works about matriarchal societies, the rise of patriarchy, or the witch hunts - this fantasy romance is such an inspiration of that. It’s obvious in the first book the author had done some research into this and the second one even more so. RTC! this sequel suffers terribly from second book syndrome, and yet, i never wanted to stop reading this? so im conflicted. I had high hopes for this book. I was hoping that now that Isolde has remembered her previous life, we would learn more about the characters. However, she does not recall many details until after they would have been useful. As a result, we spend the entire book behind. Which doesn’t help because there’s a traitor in Adrian’s inner circle, so every interaction makes you wonder if the person is telling the truth. We lose attachment to the characters we interact with because there is no trust. I understand why it was done because that is how Isolde felt. However, when the betrayal occurs, there is no emotional connection. Because we, as readers, have no emotional attachment to those characters and relationships. As a result, Isolde feels off. She gets angry and hurt, even though she had been suspicious of them the whole time. Like, make up your mind. Did you trust them or not? Now for the witches and monsters. Nothing made my dark witch heart sing more than this book. The research I know that went into it, the planning, and the love that went into presenting a supernatural world and the witches in such a true/real way is AMAZING. I felt as though I was pulled into a new reality. One wrapped in intricate magic, untrusting gods, and monsters you can’t help but fall in love with. This witch approves of what went into the details.

I also stream a variety of things over on Twitch with stream highlights and VODs posted on my YouTube Channel, and clips shared on my Clips YouTube Channel. so heres me hoping the next book will be better, but im also preparing myself in case it probably isnt. who knows. The corners of Adrian’s lips curled, and he learned closer, his breath on my lips as he spoke. “If that is your wish, I shall build it myself.” My fate is bonded to two princes– one born of blood, the other of power— but my trust lies in neither. Killian has a complete character makeover where he's gotten over Isolde and he's actually a nice guy again? Good for him.

Part 1: The Plot Summary of Queens of Myth and Monsters

Isolde: “Perhaps if I had been raised by my mother, I would be more inclined to forgive you for it, but I was raised by my father, and like him, I am only interested in punishing those who slight me.” They both have the habit of just killing people to kill then over tiny insults. Things normal people who may be vampires would just ignore.

She has a Master's degree in Library Science and Information Studies and a Bachelors in English Writing. She is obsessed with Greek Mythology, murder mysteries, and the afterlife.

And it wasn't even new fights. But reworded iterations the same fights. And after awhile I was just annoyed. Rather than push through and give this a low rating, when I know I won't be continuing with the series anyways, I just decided to put it down. Personality is a .5 out of 5. Isolde thinks she knows better. She jumps to conclusions. She creates problems out of thin air. All of a sudden she’s OBSESSED with her mother’s village. She’s then obsessed with her past life that she doesn’t fully remember. She’s mad that Adrian pointed out that she didn’t have magic… WHICH SHE DOESN’T. She gets mad at Adrian pretty much every other chapter and what’s the only way to make her feel better? Sex. There is never a resolution. He is a perfect example of a madman. In Queen of Myth and Monsters, his persona is rife with violence and hatred. His terrible past had sharpened him to anger. Peace is not in his vocabulary. Queen of Myth and Monsters was just as good as King of Battle and Blood. While it felt similar to the first one in terms of a third act betrayal, I liked this instalment for delivering the MC chemistry. Then tell me how I heal this.” “You don’t. You love me through the fear, even when my doubt hurts, and I will do the same for you.”
