The Shinco dehumidifier that is easy to use will have these excellent features: washable filters for maintenance, portable, auto draining for convenience, auto-shutoff, auto-restart, and a drain hose. All these features make the dehumidifier friendly to use. The operation is simple and the instructions are very clear. The only surprise we got was that it turned on automatically when we plugged in the power for the first time. My husband, who spent 60+ years in HVAC, has always had to deal with drains plugging. I do the maintenance on my dehumidifier, which I use in my workshop. Its cleaning function allows you to activate the internal drying of the appliance before storing it for a long period of time, preventing the proliferation of mould and bad odours. This machine is wonderful! Works like a charm! It when we first started using it the humidity in our house was over 70%! Now it pulls it down 47% or there about at night and during the day with us going in and out around)60%. Very quiet too run and my wife had pneumonia from the Covid 19 virus for which she was hospitalized and it helping her to breath better now!

No you are not the only person this has happened to. I bought a brand new dehumidifier 3 years ago. It started leaking from the base near the wheels. Thought maybe it was a balance issue, because our basement floor is not level.I will wait until next summer to see how things go. If it can’t handle the humidity to my satisfaction then I will simply move up to a higher capacity model. Waykar has a good product here. You just have to know your climate and the needs of the space you are trying to dehumidify. In my case 40 pints of removed moisture per day simply wasn’t enough. 4 stars nonetheless for the overall quality of the machine. Problems with parts inside the dehumidifier can also cause the coils to freeze. If the fan motor or blower wheel goes out, there won’t be enough airflow to keep the coils from getting too cold. You might have a jammed pump if your dehumidifier has a pump but is still leaking from an overflowing water reservoir or drainage hose. Most large dehumidifiers have a ¾” drainage hose connection. They can fit hoses as wide as garden hoses. However, many come with smaller hoses despite having a wide connection. A dirty air filter restricts air flow in the dehumidifier. This restriction can make the coils freeze. Some portable dehumidifiers do not have a standard-sized fitting and are not designed to have the hose upgraded. In this case, I recommend upgrading your dehumidifier to one that suits your humidity levels and the size of your area.

The Shinco quiet dehumidifiers don’t make the normal buzzing or whooshing noises. The rotating fans are constructed in such a way that the acoustic quality is controlled. You can sleep with the dehumidifier working I got this for my <900 sq ft apartment in southern Louisiana, poorly sealed so the place was a swamp. This little thing kept my bedroom feeling comfortably dry and even took care of the musty smell. Easy to use, empty, and even move from room to room with the handle and wheels. I run it while I sleep, not loud at all. I now have a better apartment and still run it to keep the bedroom or kitchen feeling nice on extra hot or stormy days. This unit easily manages the square footage that it advertises. We live in a high humidity state and had our basement in a desired relative humidity percentage in a short time. The unit automatically shuts down in the reservoir is full and it is very simple to convert and use with a drain as well. The unit is sleek in design and more quiet than I expected.
