About this deal

At the age of 14, Nostradame entered the University of Avignon to study medicine. He was forced to leave after only one year, however, due to an outbreak of the bubonic plague. According to his own account, he traveled throughout the countryside during this time, researching herbal remedies and working as an apothecary. This is one we can all relate to, as many of the predictions happened a long time ago. Center of the Earth doesn’t make much sense except if you think 9/11 was an inside job, in that the detonations came from within the building. It might also mean that the USA is debatably the most commanding nation, the center of the Earth. Nostradamus's reliance on historical precedent is reflected in the fact that he explicitly rejected the label "prophet" (i.e. a person having prophetic powers of his own) on several occasions: [47] Lemesurier, Peter (2003b). Nostradamus: The Illustrated Prophecies. John Hunt Publishing. ISBN 978-1-903816-48-6. He then began his project of writing a book of one thousand mainly French quatrains, which constitute the largely undated prophecies for which he is most famous today. Feeling vulnerable to opposition on religious grounds, [29] he devised a method of obscuring his meaning by using " Virgilianised" syntax, word games and a mixture of other languages such as Greek, Italian, Latin, and Provençal. [30] For technical reasons connected with their publication in three instalments (the publisher of the third and last instalment seems to have been unwilling to start it in the middle of a "Century," or book of 100 verses), the last fifty-eight quatrains of the seventh "Century" have not survived in any extant edition.

The prophecies of Nostradamus: What did he predict for 2023?

None of this research and criticism was originally known to most of the English-language commentators, by dint of the dates when they were writing and, to some extent, the language in which it was written. [81] Hogue was in a position to take advantage of it, but it was only in 2003 that he accepted that some of his earlier biographical material had in fact been apocryphal. Meanwhile, some of the more recent sources listed (Lemesurier, Gruber, Wilson) have been particularly scathing about later attempts by some lesser-known authors and Internet enthusiasts to extract alleged hidden meanings from the texts, whether with the aid of anagrams, numerical codes, graphs or otherwise. [57] Despite the controversy, "The Prophecies" eventually became one of the most widely-read books in the world. It both astounded and terrified readers with its predictions about dreadful events to come.

Nostradamus doesn’t mention France explicitly, but Pau, Nay, Loron are three towns in the southern part of the country. Rearrange these words and you get Napaulon Roy. In French, Roy (spelled Roi) means king, so you’ve Napoleon the King. He certainly swam in praise and perhaps by confluence it could mean how he battled all through Europe. Some people think the mention of Pius relates to Popes Pius VI and Pius VII, who were both imprisoned by Napoleon as is said in the last line.

In his new introduction Roberts's grandson carries on with this work by revealing Nostradamus's ability to predict even recent events. Here Robert Lawrence shows that many of today's top news events such as the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, the tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales, as well as the Oklahoma City bombing and the downing of TWA Flight 800 were all predicted by Nostradamus. Even the revolution in worldwide communication brought about by the personal computer and the World Wide Web was foretold by this greatest of prophets. That last point makes Nostradamus sound thoroughly modern. “Those guys didn’t have social media,” says Jones, “but what they were producing then would serve now as the fuel pellets on which social media runs. In fact, increasingly, Nostradamus is spreading through social media.” More recently, enthusiasts claim that Nostradamus predicted the rise of COVID-19 when he wrote, “Near the gates and within two cities/There will be two scourges the like of which was never seen. Famine within plague, people put out by steel/Crying to the great immortal God for relief.” Given printing practices at the time (which included type-setting from dictation), no two editions turned out to be identical, and it is relatively rare to find even two copies that are exactly the same. Certainly there is no warrant for assuming—as would-be "code-breakers" are prone to do—that either the spellings or the punctuation of any edition are Nostradamus's originals. [6] By West Europe we can say Germany. Hitler wasn’t born underprivileged but experienced poverty in his early life and was destitute for a while. His populist policies were also meant to support the exploited. He was a great orator who got most of the country behind him and surely seduced a great troop. His reputation, or notoriety, did indeed amplify. In the other lines the beasts that cross rivers could be Germany invading countries and of course Hister could be Hitler, although it’s thought Nostradamus was using it as a name for the Danube River.

Global warming and lots and lots of dead fish

Nostradamus was born Michel de Nostradame on December 14 or 21, 1503, in the south of France in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. He was one of nine children born to Reyniere de St-Remy and her husband Jaume de Nostradame, a well-to-do grain dealer and part-time notary of Jewish descent. In 1555 he published Les Prophesies, or The Prophecies, a collection of his major, long-term predictions. Possibly feeling vulnerable to religious persecution, he devised a method of obscuring the prophecies’ meanings by using quatrains—rhymed four-line verses—and a mixture of other languages such as Greek, Italian, Latin and Provencal, a dialect of southern France. And now that we are in a republican era, with Almighty God's aid, and before completing its full cycle, the monarchy will return, then the Golden Age. For according to the celestial signs, the Golden Age shall return, and after all calculations, with the world near to an all-encompassing revolution... Nostradamus’ predictions for last year included the rise of AI, the conquering power of cryptocurrency and a surge in cannibalism as a response to inflation. How’d he do? While bitcoin has gone bust, inflation remains at an all-time high and not for nothing, “Dahmer — Monster,” Netflix’s controversial ode to the famous flesh-eater, became the second-most watched show in the network’s history. Nostradamus claimed to base his published predictions on judicial astrology—the astrological 'judgment', or assessment, of the 'quality' (and thus potential) of events such as births, weddings, coronations etc.—but was heavily criticised by professional astrologers of the day such as Laurens Videl [42] for incompetence and for assuming that "comparative horoscopy" (the comparison of future planetary configurations with those accompanying known past events) could actually predict what would happen in the future. [43]Sometimes on the money but more often than not muddily missing the mark, our man’s prophecies lean towards conflagration and catastrophe.

The predictions do not follow chronological coherence and were written combining French, Greek, Latin and Occitan. It is believed that it contains anagrams, mythological and astrological references, in a subjective language that makes comprehension difficult. Some scholars claim that this was a resource used by Nostradamus to evade the Holy Inquisition, for fear of being persecuted for heresy. [4] The first English edition titled The True Prophecies or Prognostications of Michael Nostradamus, Physician to Henry II. Francis II. and Charles IX. Kings of France, was published in London by Thomas Ratcliffe and Nathaniel, in the year 1672. [3] In 1531 Nostradamus was invited by Jules-César Scaliger, a leading Renaissance scholar, to come to Agen. [19] There he married a woman of uncertain name (possibly Henriette d'Encausse), with whom he had two children. [20] In 1534 his wife and children died, presumably from the plague. After their deaths, he continued to travel, passing through France and possibly Italy. [21] Nostradamus took advantage of this new means of spreading ideas. From 1550 onwards he produced annual almanacs that included prophetic verses. In 1554, he started writing Les Prophéties, in which he aimed to set out the future history of the world in 1,000 quatrains, arranged in 10 “centuries”. As his fame grew, Nostradamus became a close friend of the queen of France, Catherine de Médici, the death of whose husband Henry II he is supposed to have predicted in the following verse: Transhumanisme: business d'un mythe". Transhumanisme et intelligence artificielle (in French). 2017-11-07 . Retrieved 2017-11-08.Open the door to the next century with the only unabridged, definitive edition of the authentic prophecies of Michael Nostradamus since 1672. The Complete Prophecies has the answer: Nostradamus concealed nothing, for the information is right there in the text. He gave to each of his prophetic verses--ten volumes of 100 each--an index number. As Mario Reading reveals in this ground-breaking new analysis, in these numbers lie the true key to the years of the prophecies’ fulfillment. It’s an eye-opening interpretation that no one should miss. Watts, P.M. (1985). Prophecy and Discovery: On the Spiritual Origins of Christopher Columbus' 'Enterprise of the Indies. American Historical Review. Among his first predictions were events that occurred when he was still alive. He is said to have predicted that a monk that he met on his travels would be the future pope. He was correct, as the monk eventually became Pope Sixtus V in 1585. Nostradamus is also alleged to have predicted the death of King Henri II of France, saying in one of his quatrains, “The young lion will overcome the older one, on the field of combat in a single battle; he will pierce his eyes through a golden cage two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death.” King Henri II ultimately died during a ceremonial jousting match when he was stabbed through his mask in the face by his opponent, who was six years younger than him, hence the reference to the “young lion” in Nostradamus’ quatrain. Beforehand, Nostradamus tried to warn the king not to take part in any ceremonial jousting, but to no avail. His last prediction was said to have been his death. On the evening of July 1, 1566, he allegedly told his secretary that he would not be alive the next morning. The morning after that, his secretary found him lying dead next to his bed. Three years later, when King Henri was 41 years old, he died in a jousting match when a lance from this opponent pierced the king’s visor and entered his head from the eye deep into his brain. He held on to life for 10 agonizing days before finally dying of infection.
