About this deal

After being out for lunch yesterday, I was feeling shattered (I have ME and Fibromyalgia) so today I decide to spend the day in bed with Ant & Dec. I only buy biographies and I can honestly say this is the best one I’ve listened to so far and I’ve bought over 30. I read their first book when I was at a point in my life when I could actually focus and read a physical book, What A Lovely Pair, for all I read it I could hear the boys speaking, it was my favourite book for many years. Book Review: Ant and Dec — Once Upon A Tyne — Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together on the Telly — Autobiography

Byker Grove was based in a youth club in Newcastle and teenagers and young adults went there to hang out with each other.I found Ant and Dec’s autobiography called ‘Ant and Dec — Once Upon A Tyne — Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together On Telly’ a really good read. I’ve effectively ‘grown up’ with Ant and Dec, from watching them act on TV in their ‘Byker Grove’ days, through to their TV presenting on various shows to this day. I recommend this book as it tells about the unique story of a couple of lads from Newcastle, UK who became best friends and business partners, and about their unique friendship. In 2002, Ant and Dec devised a Saturday night television show that would have features like ‘Win the Ads’, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Outa Me Ear!’ and ‘Little Ant and Dec’, who interviewed celebrities. The show first ran from 2002 to 2009, when Ant and Dec thought they would ‘rest’ the show and do other things. This audiobook is just brilliant, the PDF photo book to accompany the storytelling is a wonderful touch and the nice surprising at the end of them reading this superbly written book is what really made me laugh. As NSPCC Ambassadors for Childhood, we wanted to show our support for this fantastic charity and their vital work.”

At first, Ant and Dec didn’t have many scenes together, so they didn’t get to know each other. However, that changed later in the year of 1990. They found they got more scenes together and found they had things in common, like Newcastle football club, and hanging out at shopping centres and attending gigs. And as another Chinese proverb says, 'If you've been in a double act with your best mate for thirty years, why not write a book about all your most memorable moments in three decades of showbusiness?' Ant said: “Every child deserves a happy childhood – and the NSPCC rely on fundraising to ensure they can continue to be here for children and families. It is interesting to hear how they both have developed and changed individually over the years. But despite the success, they remain humble and I think that's what made me admire them more.

Check out Ant and Dec's complete career timeline:

Dec said: “Childhood Day next year is going to be even better and we’re thrilled that through the launch of Propa Happy we can encourage children and grown-ups across the UK to come together to fundraise on June the 10th and do their bit for children.” Using their Byker Grove character names, Ant and Dec became PJ and Duncan — the popstars. They were approached to ask to sing and become popstars by Telstar.

I was binge-watching Chatty Man, Graham Norton show, Friday night with Jonathan Ross and yes, BGT (don't ask, I'm just really in the brit-show phase right now), and I was drawn to these people who are always making people laugh; David Walliams and Ant&Dec most especially. I think I've watched all the interviews with them on youtube and I bought and finished Camp David last week (I'm still thinking if I'll do a review on that one, it's just so sad).Don't get me wrong, it's mildly entertaining but you won't learn much - it's like an evening with Ant and Dec, where they wheel out plenty of tried and true anecdotes you probably have heard before if you're a longtime fan - especially if you read their 2009 autobiography. I wouldn't mind so much it there weren't chapters devoted to vague themes such as awards ceremonies and the royals so it's not like they didn't have the space. Ant and Dec came together to create a new show about their ancestors and to find out where they both came from. The programme was made over two years and Ant and Dec journeyed to places such as Ireland and United States of America. The most amazing part of their DNA journey was that they actually found out that they were in fact distant relations of each other! Dec: but no less true. And after three decades together, we've written that book. Covering everything from a pirate radio storyline in Byker Grove through to the biggest shows on telly, this is our story. But no less true.
