About this deal

Psst! Did you know I sell my own junk journal supplies via Etsy as well? Take a look at my shop here. You might also like to watch how I made some simple paper bag journals following a tutorial from Wendy’s Journal Adventure. The process is similar to using envelopes and bubble mailers. Or will you make a little envelope, which turns into a fun flip down journaling spot when pulled open – like in this tutorial by Natasa from Treasure Books.

It has been such an exciting journey so far and her dad and I are over the moon she has been awarded this as it is the least she deserves.” – Chelsie Syme Some people use junk journals as everyday diaries to record their thoughts, ideas and experiences from each day. I’m not sure where you’re based, but if you’re able to, I’d recommend getting either Fabritac or Beacon 3-in-1 glue – these are very good glues and will suit both paper and fabric. Just try to avoid putting too much on as they can seep through thin fabrics. Art glitter glue is also very good, but not essential. Gemma Brogan - Tar's girlfriend, a rebellious fourteen-year old, who runs away with him. She later becomes a prostitute and a heroin addict. Alternatively, you might like to watch my creative process of filling a junk journal via one of the videos linked below:Junk is set in Bristol, where I lived myself for eight years in the late seventies and eighties. The book falls into two halves – the first part, where the main characters, Tar and Gemma, leave home and move to Bristol, where they meet up with some squatters, and the second part, where Tar and Gemma become become addicted to heroin. The second part of the book is based loosely on people I knew at the time. I think that one of the main reasons for the book’s success is the fact that is painted very much from life. The culture of inner city Bristol, the lifestyles of many of the characters, was something I lived myself. Tar and Gemma, Lily and Rob, come across as real people because they are based on real people, and their story rings true because it is true. All the events in the second half of the book are real. They didn’t always happen to those particular characters in that particular way, but they did happen. I had nothing to invent. Readers Comments … and some replies … Letter from Lindsie I then embellished them in different ways – using my focal images as a starting point. 18. “Happiness At Christmas” Junk Journal Cover This was a weird, high-thrills alien invasion story that just became too weird and disjointed. Les Bohem is the screenwriter for Spielberg's series Taken, and the Hollywood feel is very much in evidence. Or would you prefer to make an altered book junk journal? This means you’ll skip the need to make your journal cover and you’ll skip the binding process. Grim realism mingles with lyrical sensitivity in Burgess's nail-biting drama which deserves to be a classic."

I used knitted legwarmers for the base of my journal cover and then I simply glued the shabby wreath (mostly made from fabric clusters) onto the front of the journal. There are lots of ways you can approach a Christmas-themed junk journal. Last year, I made a collection of soft-cover fabric journals (once again using envelopes and fabric as my base). If you’re making a journal for yourself, then it’s your own personal space with which to record your innermost thoughts to learn more about yourself, the world around you or some other topic you’re interested in.
