About this deal

If they have linked up from Brownies and made their Promise as a Brownie they will not make it again as a Guide. The Guide Programme is broken down into four Exploration Challenge areas. Guides will complete one badge from each Exploration Challenge area for each of the three Endeavour badges. Whilst completing these rangatahi will get to take part in a wide range of outdoor activities including hikes, water activities, ropes course, orienteering, outdoor games, as well as learning the safety around these different activities, they will have the opportunity to serve in the community by painting murals and planting trees, learn about different aspects of the Māori Culture. Guides also have the option to make Guiding visible within the community, learn how they can make an impact on the environment, make home-made cleaning products, learn how to express feelings, learn about peer pressure and how to deal with it, take part in activities with other Guide Units, take part in browsing on the internet safely, and learn about safety around the home including evacuation planning. This was one of my absolute favourite moments because if it wasn’t you being initiated you would hold the hand of your pal joining your six, going to Brown Owl, introducing the newest member that wants to join your Brownie unit. That responsibility is next to none in my opinion. Not only are you a Sixer but now you’re walking hand in hand up an archway for someone to make their promise. Chills.

The Pathway Badge provides Rangers with the skills to fully participate in all aspects of the Ranger Programme. The skills they learn will make them a valued member of any Unit team and will equip them with confidence for a leadership experience. After a little research, it’s actually quite a cute story that makes sense for a group of six-year-olds to believe. In a story that gets told to Brownies, two children go into the woods to find a Brownie to help their mum tidy up their house and are guided by a wise owl. As the owl helps the children, Brownie leaders are named after owls. 8. The feeling of accomplishment when carrying the flag at a paradeWant to save money on your activities in NZ cities? Entertainment digital memberships have thousands of local and regional offers for the best restaurants, cafes, takeaway, activity, and retail outlets. And even better, 20% of all sales go directly to fundraising for GirlGuiding NZ. Each year there are different events that take place that a Brownie may get a badge for their participation. This might include a day event, Community Action Project or a Brownie Camp. GirlGuiding NZ members have exclusive access 1000’s of discounted products and high-quality retail brands through a partnership with ‘Rewarding Concepts’. The online shopping hub has a great line-up of aspirational brands, covering everything from outdoor activities to home and lifestyle, including – Canon, Macpac, Brother, Merrell, Logitech, Sony, Salomon, Garmin, and many more. Your sash was bound to fill up anyways with the size of some of those badges but to go that extra mile and buy a blanket AND fill it with badges? Congrats, that’s fame. A Guide completes a few different activities to enable Leaders to get to know rangatahi as well as introduce them to the Guide programme and rangatahi in the Unit. Once they have completed these activities a Guide Promise Ceremony takes place and they receives her Promise Badge.

Now, this is how you know you’ve made it. I’ll start off with being awarded as Seconder, which meant that out of your entire six your Sixer rated you the most. Or you were just best friends but that isn’t really the point. You were essentially second in command and if your Sixer wasn’t in one week you would fill in temporarily until the next week when they returned. The use of a single shirt style and colour makes this top far more cost-effective for members. It also provides great visibility when large numbers of girls are wearing the same, branded shirt together in the community.Macpac has a loyalty group in all Macpac stores that entitles all members of GirlGuiding New Zealand 30% off RRP on Macpac branded products. You will complete a Leadership Option for your Queen’s Guide Award, but you can also complete a second Leadership Option for your Gold Challenge. Yeah sure it is slightly like a wedding ceremony and the preparation to remember your promise is an extreme duty. Sure you’ll be guided along if you stumble but you wanted to show who was boss by memorising it all the night before. Yes, I did exactly that. The Pippin programme structure is based around the opportunity to gain four Apple Badges, one every two terms. The requirements for each badge include completing Apple activities, Unit badges, Whānui badges and Leadership activities. Andyou’redone! The stitchesdon’thave to bereally neat, it’s all about having the badges on your uniform and learning a new skillif you’ve never done it before.

There are nine Unit badges that teach rangatahi a range of different skills including building friendships, learning about the Pippin family, basic first aid as well as keeping safe, exploring different art mediums, cooking and being safe in the kitchen, learning about and playing music, learning about different animals and how to care for them, science experiments, and designing and building different objects. The Peak Award provides opportunities for Rangers to further develop skills in a range of areas, including leadership, community action, and advocacy. I still find this bizarre to this day. Albeit at my Brownies we always called our leaders by their first name because the owl thing just never worked but all my friends at different units would refer to their leaders as Brown Owl, Snowy Owl, and Tawny Owl. Why? I have absolutely zero clue. Badges can be attached to her uniform – the promise badge, which she’ll get after making her Brownie promise, should be on the left-hand side and all other badges can be attached where she chooses. The 12×12 Challenge is an opportunity for Rangers to try new activities, learn new things and HAVE FUN!The Brownie Programme structure is based around the opportunity to gain three Koru Badges. These badges are the progression milestones in the Brownie Programme. The requirements for each badge are slightly different but include: Sunshine Unit badges, Discover badges, Interest badges, Whānui badges, Leadership activities and Guiding Events.
