Note: WPS does not support WEP wireless encryption. If your router’s wireless encryption is set to WEP, please follow the steps to reconfigure using web GUI.

If you will be connecting a WiFi camera or something similar, it is also best to connect it whilst quite close to the access point, then mount the camera in the final position once it has already been connected to the access point. Reset the extender by pressing and holding the reset button for 10 seconds using a paper clip or pin. Our normal router is called 0606 Hyperoptic, and you can see that it transmits Wi-Fi on both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands. You can also see that the range extender is transmitting its own wi-fi signals - again on the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands - called TP-Link_Extender_2.4GHz and TP-Link_Extender_5GHz. If you’re having difficulties configuring your Comfast extender, try the following troubleshooting steps: Make sure you set up the WiFi access point inside first and confirm it is working, and only mount it in the intended position when you have verified that it provides a connection to the internet.If the link LED is OFF, the extender failed to connect to the router Wi-Fi network, please repeat steps 1-3 to try again. Set the Local SSID to something you want; this is the name that you will see in the list of Wi-Fi networks on your phone/PC when connecting to the access point in future. This is where things can get a little confusing. At the start of the set-up process, the range extender’s Wi-Fi network was called TP-Link_Extender on both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands.

Before you launch the extender’s app, just go into the Wi-Fi Settings panel on your smartphone or tablet. Once the setup is complete you should mount the access point on the highest point that you can, with as few obstructions in between the access point and the location of the WiFi device as possible. The more obstructions that are in the way, the shorter the effective range of the access point, so if you need the signal to reach 200m from the access point then it will need to be a clear line of sight to the WiFi device. If you are unsure, connect to the default network name (SSID), which should be listed on the extension. To reset the Comfast extender, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds with a paper clip or similar instrument. This WiFi access point sends a 2.4GHz WiFi signal, which allows WiFi cameras to easily connect to it, as well as any other WiFi devices that have compatibility issues with 5GHz devices.
