About this deal

The life of wood is highly affected by the environmental factors and the conditions it is being kept in. Fence posts and poles should be devoid of barks and dry. Fence posts along with heavy duty wood products should be immersed in the copper green solution for 12-48 hours for effective protection against insects and fungi.

The colour swatches are an indication only and representative of the product applied to clean new/pale timber and rough sawn pine (2 coats). The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated and will darken with multiple coats. Viewing colours on multiple digital screens can vary considerably and may not be totally accurate. We always recommend carrying out a small inconspicuous test area first. It is the Customer/end users responsibility to satisfy themselves that the colour finish is correct before full application. Smooth Pine (2 coats) Make certain the wood is free of bark, then immerse in product for 12 to 48 hours or until the sapwood is completely penetrated. Water-based wood preservers such as Cuprinol tend to be easier for most people to work with. They dry faster than most solvent-based preservers, and are much lower in VOCs (volatile organic compounds), the substances mainly responsible for petrol-type smells. Water-based products are also much easier to clean off brushes.

Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver is a high-quality, low odour, oil based wood preserver that is deep penetrating. Barrettine wood preserver is used for wood protection against wood-destroying fungi (wet rot), wood discolouring fungi and wood-boring insects. This wood preserver provides a semi-transparent matt/satin finish allowing the natural wood texture to be visible, it can be used on pressure-treated wood, treated timber or untreated wood. This high-quality wood treatment is suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, does not require over sealing for wood protection. No subsequent topcoat is required unless for aesthetic purposes. Barrettine Wood Preserver is for outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine Wood Preserver Clear can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. So, you can potentially use it on your old shed, but you should prepare the wood first. Otherwise you’re wasting your time and money. Whatever colour or non-colour you go for, at least you won’t have to put up with the fluorescent yellowy green colour of creosote, which used to be the only wood preserver you could get. Thankfully creosote – noxious, toxic and highly flammable – is no longer sold to the general public. Are wood preservers all solvent-based? I’m worried about fumes indoors. Copper imparted a green color to the wood and hence the name “copper green” was given to this wood preservation technique. Wood surface must be dry and free of dust, dirt, debris and standing water. Product will adhere to dry or damp (not soaking wet) surfaces. See surface preparation instructions below for your particular wood type.

This copper green preservative from green products is one of the strongest preservatives in the market. Wood preserver is basically an undercoat. You brush or spray it onto raw, freshly sawn or sanded wood surfaces to stabilise the wood’s moisture content and protect it from rot and decay. The main reason of copper being an active compound in such products is its antimicrobial nature and a broad activity against wide range of fungi, bacteria and insects.
