Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a British-American fantasy film inspired by the book of the same name by J. K. Rowling. An extension of the wizarding world [7] from the Harry Potter film series and directed by David Yates, the film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Carmen Ejogo, Faith Wood-Blagrove, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight and Ron Perlman. The first movie is set to be followed by four more. Principal photography commenced on 17 August 2015, at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released in the United Kingdom and the United States on 18 November 2016.
The “Hogwarts library” texts
Fantastic Beasts purports to be a reproduction of a textbook owned by Harry Potter and written by magizoologist Newt Scamander, a character in the fictional Harry Potter series. In the series, magizoology is the study of magical creatures.
Most of the creatures included in the prop used in the film version are not mentioned anywhere else in the Harry Potter universe, and were invented by the film crew themselves; as such, they are possibly not canonical. As well as Rowling's "Pottermore Presents" series and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplays: Curiously in said versions, there is always a single Book in the Charms classroom that is in a defeated state groaning throughout, but can always be refought whenever the flying books from the shelves are defeated either through casting Flipendo or Snufflifors at them. Once they are all dealt with, the Monster Book will reanimate itself with its health bar shown in full, and can be fought and defeated as normal. Exiting and re-entering the room allows this process to be repeated as many times as one wishes, accessible as soon as the Charms class is completed in the playthrough.

In the Harry Potter universe, the book is a required textbook for first-year Hogwarts students, having been an approved textbook since its first publication. In his foreword to the book, Albus Dumbledore notes that it serves as an excellent reference for wizarding households in addition to its use at Hogwarts. Of course, you can choose to simply watch the continuation of the Wizarding World on-screen — but reading the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: the Original Screenplay and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald — The Original Screenplay will undoubtedly give you that extra level of depth and insight into the characters. Besides the sheer brilliance of plotting in this book, Rowling also presents some interesting commentary with the Dementors, which symbolize depression and force Harry to grapple with his past trauma. Indeed, though Goblet of Fire is widely identified as the “transition point” into the darker themes of the series’ latter half, Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely where those themes begin to take root. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and friends return to Hogwarts with a bang — the bang of a flying Ford Anglia as it crashes into the Whomping Willow, that is. After being spotted by Muggles and narrowly avoiding expulsion, you’d think that the rest of Harry’s second year would be smooth sailing in comparison… right?

Rowling's name did not appear on the cover of the first edition, the work being credited under the pen name " Newt Scamander", who, in the books, wrote this textbook as seen on Harry's supply list for his first year.
