About this deal

Celeron N3350: An Apollo Lake family, dual-core, ultra-low-power processor (SoC) that saw the light of day in 2016. Its two cores run at 1.1 GHz to 2.4 GHz; these are not Hyper-Threading-enabled meaning there are no additional threads. This chip has a fairly competent integrated graphics solution, the Intel HD Graphics 500, and eats very little (~6 W). The Celeron N3350 is based on the Goldmont CPU microarchitecture that came to replace Silvermont (2013), bringing with it several welcome improvements. The CPU is Secure Boot-compatible; technically, it will have no issue running 64-bit Windows 11. The average N3350 in our database is just as fast as the venerable Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 is in multi-thread loads; the two cores of this Celeron trail behind a single core of any half-decent CPU such as the Intel Core i3-7130U.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors. Positive: Good price; slim size; light weight; high performance; excellent display; comfortable keyboard; good connectivity; long battery life. Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List. The IdeaPad 120S copied a 4.97GB batch of multimedia files in 1 minute and 28 seconds, for a rate of 57.8 megabytes per second. That hard-drive speed is much faster than the Lenovo IdeaPad 100S-14's 43.5 MBps (1 minute and 47 seconds), the Asus L402SA's sluggish 14.1 MBps (6 minutes) and the HP Stream 14's 24.5 MBps (3 minutes and 28 seconds).

Lenovo's IdeaPad 120S stayed cool during our heat test. After we played a full-screen video for 15 minutes, the touchpad measured 75 degrees Fahrenheit, its keyboard (G and H keys) registered 82 degrees and the underside hit 85 degrees. These results passed our heat test with flying colors, as we consider temperatures above 95 degrees to be uncomfortable. This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List. The IdeaPad 120S' screen performed better in our brightness test, registering 219 nits on our light meter. That score didn't surpass the category average (254 nits), but it's better than the showings we observed from the Lenovo IdeaPad 100S-14 (188 nits), the Asus L402SA (206 nits) and the HP Stream 14 (186 nits). The IdeaPad 120S may be cheap, but its battery lasts as long as your average ultraportable laptop. The Laptop Mag Battery Test (web surfing at 100 nits) took 8 hours and 35 minutes to drain the IdeaPad 120S, a time that narrowly beats the 8:25 category average and the 8:23 from the Stream 11. However, the Inspiron 11 3000 lasted even longer, with a time of 13:39.The IdeaPad 120S includes a one-year limited hardware warranty on parts and labor. Unless your idea of a fun time is Candy Crush Soda Saga, don't expect to game on the IdeaPad 120S. This laptop's integrated Intel HD Graphics ran the modestly demanding Dirt 3 (set to 1920 x 1080 pixels and medium graphics) at 23 frames per second, failing to meet or come near our 30-fps playability rate. The ultraportable average is a smooth 41 fps. Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. Print documents to the kyocera cs 1820 copier through usb. We first send the document to the pc through dropbox and then print what we need. We don't do it quite often, but when we do, we do it in hurry because it's usually important bank or goverment bureocracy related documents. The IdeaPad 120S' 21,016 score on the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited graphics test beats the 13,297 from the Inspiron 11 3000 (Intel HD Graphics) and the 16,230 from the Stream 11 (Intel HD Graphics 400) but falls short of the 59,434 ultraportable average.

Lenovo IdeaPad 120S Specs

We don't expect much speed from eMMC hard drives, such as the 64GB module in the IdeaPad 120S, but this one fell under even those modest expectations. It took the notebook 2 minutes and 12 seconds to duplicate a DVD's worth of multimedia files, for a rate of 38.6 megabytes per second. That's slower than the 84.8MBps from the Inspiron 11 (32GB eMMC) and the 50.4MBps from the Stream 11. The IdeaPad 120S' Intel Celeron N3350 CPU scored 2,626 on Geekbench 4, a synthetic benchmark that measures overall performance. That showing exceeded the scores we saw from the Lenovo IdeaPad 100S-14 (1,880), the Asus L402SA (1,934) and the HP Stream 14 (1,817), all of which have Intel Celeron N3060 CPUs. The performance of this laptop is very poor, that is, we achieve what we set to do, but is pretty slow. The processor is always at 100%, and oddly enough I've seen dropbox can take up to 60% of the load, and when it's not dropbox is windows powershell, skype (which we don't even use) or service host something, each process taking more than half of the load at a time. It's pretty obscene. The IdeaPad 120S has dual bottom-facing speakers that provided adequate sound. The 2 x 1 watt stereo speakers reproduced semiaccurate audio that was loud enough to fill our small conference room. When I listened to "Call Me Baby" by EXO, I could hear the bass and synth all right. But the percussion sounded tinny, and the strings were barely audible. At least the vocals came through clearly, with little distortion.
