This is going to be a review that is hard to write without including spoilers. There was just so much going on and so many twists, that it will be hard not to reveal secrets hidden in the book's plot. I hate when I read a review just to get an idea if I am going to like a book and the reviewer reveals half of the twists. So bear with me and I will do my best not to spoil it for you. You are my companion in crime, my confidant, my best friend. I can’t imagine going through life without you. Both CE and Caroline write multi-layered, dark and edgy ‘domestic suspense’ stories that delve into complicated relationships, secrets and the moral grey area. If he’s already given up on having a close and satisfying relationship with you, he won’t see the work as anything but a waste of energy. 4. He refuses even to consider counseling.

He no longer sees value in doing things for you. Maybe he’s afraid you’ll criticize his results. Or perhaps he’s just found more rewarding ways to spend his time. Be prepared to pay close attention at the beginning of the novel, as there are a vast number of characters, that can seem overwhelming at times. I found myself taking notes and jotting down the names of the different characters and their relationship to each other. It took me a little bit to get a handle on who was who.Your love is like a warm blanket that wraps me up and makes everything feel right. I am grateful to have you in my life. Your love is like a flower that blooms inside me, that grows stronger every day, that never withers or dies. It is amazing how you love me unconditionally. If you can at least persuade him to commit to 15 minutes, it’s a start. Prepare a shortlist of things to talk about but don’t expect to cover everything. 6. He spends less time at home. He’d rather do his own thing and leave you out of that, too. 14. When you ask him to do something, he refuses or doesn’t follow through. Even when he doesn’t refuse, he often forgets to do what you’ve asked. Or he’ll start and get distracted and won’t follow through. What I loved about this book was how the best friends and their partners/ families related to each other. Like most of us, Caroline England's beautifully created characters would like to think they are honest and straightforward people. But how well do we really know about our friends? Enough to trust them with all our secrets - and to keep theirs? This is one of the most thought-provoking novels of recent times and it will make you look at almost everyone you know with suspicion in your soul. Very few relationships are completely and totally honest but this bunch really take the biscuit! You inspire me to do better and not give up on or underestimate myself. I’ve lost count of the ways you’ve helped me grow since I’ve known you. It’s one thing if he disagrees with you. That much happens even in happy marriages. But if he’s insulting you to your face and then repeating those insults when he talks about you to other people, there’s a problem. Here are some examples of disrespectful comments:I promise to love you, support you, and be your best friend for the rest of my life. You are the one I want to grow old with. That’s a gross exaggeration of how he’s acting. Now, I doubt he hates me, and I think we could work things out.”
