About this deal

Tested with a production model DJI Mavic 3 Pro in a closed environment in favorable conditions with an unobstructed wireless signal. Actual results may vary depending on the environment, usage, and firmware version. Supported by the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Hasselblad camera and 70mm medium tele camera only. The 70mm medium tele camera only supports shooting Sphere panoramas but cannot generate panorama photos.

As the Mavic Pro flies, dual forward and downward vision sensors measure the distance between itself and obstacles by taking photos from all four cameras. It then uses the information to create a 3D map which tells it exactly where obstacles are. You don’t need to always fly using the remote controller. The Mavic Pro can easily be controlled using your smartphone. There are also a couple of modes intended specifically for photography and video recording: Gesture mode lets you wave at the drone to make it take a picture of you (though I found this very hit and miss) while Tripod mode dials down the controller sensitivity to a minimum, to help you capture smooth and steady video footage.Using the new “FlightAutonomy” sensor system, the Mavic Pro drone hovers perfectly still. There is no other drone on the market which can hover as perfectly still as the Mavic Pro.

The dual forward and downward vision sensors require visible light to function, and can see as far as 49 feet (15 meters) in front in bright light. The Mavic Pro can be programmed to fly at the same level above the ground. For example, even if the Mavic Pro is following you as you are jogging or cycling up a steep hill, it will stay at the same level above ground. New Gesture Mode Obtained by using QBC (quad bayer coding) techniques and realized by combining four pixels into one. Cannot be achieved when shooting at 48MP.Actual available storage space may be reduced due to system configuration. Please refer to the specifications of the Mavic 3 Pro for details. It’s the DJI Mavic Air that takes the Mavic Pro’s title as the best drone money can buy, however. It’s a folding drone, just like the Mavic Pro, but even smaller and with better video quality and superior object avoidance as well. Essentially, it’s the perfect compact flying camera and the only downside is that it has slightly shorter flight time at around six minutes than the Mavic Pro. The drone can follow you around too: it will hug the ground and stay close as you walk, climb or ride up the side of a hill. Weirdly, however, it won’t follow you down again, so if you were hoping to capture aerial footage of a snowboarding or mountain-biking adventure, you’ll have to get someone to control it manually. The FlightAutonomy technology gives the Mavic Pro long range, high precision obstacle sensing. This new FlightAutonomy system scans its environment in 3D. FlightAutonomy dramatically increases accuracy and helps the Mavic Pro to locate obstacles around it.

Frankly, whichever mode you’re in, images and video look great, with huge amounts of crisp detail and nice smooth motion. DJI Mavic Pro review: Portability and range Tested with a DJI Mavic 3 production model in a closed environment in favorable conditions and an unobstructed wireless signal. Actual results may vary depending on environment, usage, and firmware version. For it’s size the Mavic Pro has a tremendously precise 3 axis gimbal camera which uses every pixel on it’s sensor. The video and stills shots are just perfect. The Mavic Pro can capture 4k video at 30 frames per second. Here are some of the Mavic Pro video camera highlights:

A brilliant folding drone that handles like a dream

Measured in an unobstructed environment free of interference and with a maximum flight range specification of 15km with FCC compliance. The above data shows the farthest communication range for one-way, non-return flights under each standard. During your flight, please pay attention to RTH reminders in the DJI Fly app. The Mavic Pro has a new “FlightAutonomy” system that uses multiple sensors to see objects up to 49 feet in front (15 meters) and help avoid these obstacles. Precision measurement range: 2 ft (0.7 m) to 49 ft (15 m) Detectable range: 49 ft (15 m) to 98 ft (30 m)

The Mavic Pro has a maximum flight time longer than most other consumer drones. Adding an extra few minutes means more fun and more filming. Excellent Collision Avoidance System Although small, the Mavic Pro has a huge range of 4.3 miles. That means, in theory, that you could be standing on Hampstead Heath and pilot the drone all the way down to Westminster to see what’s going on in Parliament Square. Of course, in practice, such a flight would be highly illegal – if you’re taking your first steps in drone flying, be sure to study the rules about flying drones in populated areas.Mavic 3 Pro is C2 certified, and Mavic 3 Classic is C1 certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Until recently, the Mavic Pro had a serious rival in the GoPro Karma – a similarly priced drone that benefited from a professional-grade action camera. However, that model has now been recalled by the manufacturer, following worrying reports of units suddenly losing power in mid-flight and falling out of the sky.
