About this deal

Our test looked at how easy each was to fit, then we rated the protection the products offered by driving very slowly along the same stretch of kerb, noting any scuff marks to each protector or alloy wheel. Cost was the final factor. Alloy kerb damage is no laughing matter. Your alloys are not only gorgeous to look at, but they’re also amazingly protective. But did you know they’re at risk of getting seriously damaged on and off the kerb? Let’s take a look. Alloy Wheel Advantages Rimsavers are made from a near rigid plastic, that if it wasn’t made in such a thin design would appear as a hard plastic. It gets its flexibility from the thin lightweight design profile. Rimsavers are a bond on solution and have a semi-gloss smooth appearance that brake dust wipes straight off. Rimsavers have a stiff fitting guide lip on the top side and the 3M VHB (very high bond) tape is sealed from the weather, brake dust, road salt and wheel cleaners by a sealing lip. BOND ON UNIVERSAL FITTING The new Rimblades® Ultra are made from Santoprene by Exxon Mobil (appearance of hard rubber) with a micro fine wire core to prevent expansion or contraction due to extreme temperatures. Rimblades® Ultra have a genuine 3M GTE6208 Automotive grade VHB tape factory applied to the rear side. They are available in 8 colours.

Be careless when parking and kerb them, and they can be ruined – costing a fortune to refurbish.

Additionally included in the Rimsavers kit is a set of joint covers and adhesive, so even if you don’t get the cut just right, you can cover where the ends meet.

Also, alloys are excellent at keeping your vehicle light and easy to manoeuvre. That’s going to make for a smoother ride and easier steering. Beyond this, you’ll save money on the fuel economy alone - there’s less pull, meaning less need for fuel. I did not drive the vehicle for 48 hours to make sure the everything was dry. Took the Alfa on the road. After 30 minuted or so, the first one came off. Pulled into a lot, a second one was loose, so I took it off. On the way home a third one flew off the wheel. Full transparency, I was doing 60 MPH.
