The best way i can describe it is "that drinking the Ab 21 is like driving a ferrari around the race track in eco drive", although the experience is pleasant you expect a hell of alot more for your money. I wouldn't rate this particular Scotch better than an off-the-shelf cheap Irish whiskey we keep for Irish coffees and tourists.

Palate: Silky vanilla and creamy oak lead to refined smoke, with notes of marzipan, candied orange, and floral fruit. The label comes with a rather handsome black and rose-gold colour palate to match the rich, malty, honeyed flavour profile. We have been privileged to have held her royal warrant throughout the entirety of her remarkable 70 year reign. Well we had success with the previous Christmas choice so had high hopes, however the Aberfeldy left us underwhelmed. A classic Highland dram, Aberfeldy 12 Year Old single malt whisky is a creamy, sweet and gently smoky example of what the region produces.

But from the reaction I received, I can say with no uncertainty that the recipient was over the moon, really taken aback. Finish: Ripe white peach, sultanas, and a good wave of honey, a smidge of wood smoke, backed up by caramelised almonds and a touch of toasted coconut. Bolstered by plenty of Aberfeldy's signature honeyed fruit character, this makes for a superbly laid-back sipper.It was a potential easy win for the bottle with eager, excited drinkers waiting to pour out the first drams but it was not to be. Matured for a generous 21 years, this single malt boasts classic Highland character with layers of heather honey, nutty malt, and zesty fruit, joined by a rich depth of dried fruits and delicate smoke. The Aberfeldy distillery is nestled in the foothills of the central Highlands, and has been in operation since it was founded in 1898. Nose: Runny honey, dried fruits, and biscuity malt enlivened by a fresh, zesty quality, and notes of waxed citrus.
