About this deal

Perfect for swimming and snorkelling: the watch is water resistant to 10 bar according to ISO 22810. There's a whole sub-culture of people that modify Casio watches, and for me, I'm just scratching the surface. The factory resin band on the AE-1200WH is also a little wider, making it a bit more comfortable when attached tightly on the wrist. Synthetic resin is the ideal material for wrist straps thanks to its extremely durable and flexible properties.

While the case itself seems wide, the light weight and profile make this watch seem more medium rather than large. The previous reviewed F91W-1 was purely a digital watch, however, the AE-1200WH displays a lot more on the watch face. The base black model, models with different colored bands and cases, and some models with metal bracelets. I suspect that the AE1200WH-1A and its ilk may create a lot more real joy in the world than all the Paul Newman Daytonas put together. This classic CASIO watch has functions such as World Time, LED light, 1/100th Sec Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, and quick access to the time in 4 time zones.

I had it on me from 35 degrees Fahrenheit, up to 115f, with no cracking or issues caused by the change in temperature.

There is also a countdown timer, stopwatch, five daily alarms, and on-demand backlight, as well as an analog LCD display that always shows home time, and, for a wonder, even displays running seconds. This has become my "special" of my two watches, which I generally wear when I want to be a teeny bit more flashy. The plastic case and mineral glass crystal, as it turns out, reward closer scrutiny with a surprisingly rich display of somewhat muted but strangely elegant geometry, and while the AE1200WH-1A doesn't have the broad-shouldered tough-guy vibe of the G-Shock, it has another kind of retro-tech appeal that while not apparent at first glance, becomes more pronounced and more enjoyable the longer you wear the watch. A lot of us get interested in watches well in advance of actually being able to afford most of them – I happened to be in graduate school when I got bitten by the watch bug; we'd just had our first kid and we didn't have a proverbial pot to piss in, but what we did have was a computer and internet access, which meant fast and easy access to a whole universe of things both desirable and completely unaffordable.

While that watch is a classic that packs immense value, I've realized that my "watch wants" had shifted. Its design appears to be derived from, or at least related to, the Casio F-91W, which came out in 1991 and is also still in production; both watches are in the Classic Collection.

If you press the buttons on the case while the watch is submerged, that may let water in, so don't do that.Complete with a 10-year battery, LCD display and quartz timing package, you can view all 31 timezones around the world from the convenience of your wrist. However, I've found that spending a little more money has lead to a watch that I like a whole lot more. Designed to be a great travel watch, the AE-1200WH allows the wearer to track multiple time zones, including a readout on a map.
