This was a very enjoyable YA read with lots of pop culture references, about NB MC Roman sorting out their (love) life and growing up in the northern town of Tynemouth. Following a family tragedy, he had to mature at a young age and be a parental figure to his younger brothers.This is the first time I'm reading a book from this author and I genuinely really enjoyed it and will definitely read more of Tawse's work! The only two gay people mentioned were a graffiti artist who did a work the author admired that was apparently commentary on the (then current) AIDS crisis, and a lesbian who on the author's advice maintained contact with her toxic, homophobic family. Throughout all of this, she illuminates a path toward a more loving relationship with yourself and others, so we can all work toward a more loving society. With exquisite precision, she demolishes the cultural paradigm that intertwines love exclusively with carnal desires, revealing a luminous pathway to a love that transcends mere superficiality. As each page unfurls, a profound metamorphosis takes hold, beckoning us to shed the shackles of societal conditioning and open our hearts to the transformative power of love.

bell didn’t waste any time — Instantly she was addressing the confusion between love and abuse (childhood abuse—confused with parental love). This is precisely the beauty of it, the fact that our perception of love - because I honestly think it is a matter of perception - changes ever so slightly with new relationships - romantic or otherwise, and that we gain new insights each time, without ever grasping the full meaning of it. The low level of angst and satisfying wrap to most conflicts in All About My Romance take down its rewatchability, but in a good way. Akdong Musician's "I Love You," and Shin Yong Jae's "Simple Love" have found themselves into my iPod. She touches on such an important and thought-provoking set of topics, including: how the media almost never portrays healthy, communicative relationships, how capitalism and patriarchy ruin love by forcing women to provide emotional labor while men do not, and how we take friendships for granted because of romance.

Many of us learn as children that friendship should never be seen as just as important as family ties. This was such a brilliantly written book about a Nonbinary character and the messiness of secondary school. For the last few years, I’ve shared AAR’s 2022 numbers for reviews of books written by non-white authors. Roman thinks they know who is leaving these messages - their mega-crush and almost-boyfriend from last year, JJ. Unfortunately this device over-saturated the first four episodes, which served as a foundation for the later events of the story.
