But her decisions affect more than just herself and as she begins to see this she’ll have to make some very hard choices. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves in reading is when characters do things that don't make sense for who their character is and that's what the entirety of this book is. Merida balks at this tradition, but her mother Queen Elinor insists that Merida must do this to embrace her role as future queen.
