The camphorous pine steeped in lemon that is its fanfare may be repellent to those accustomed to creamy-dreamy pseudo-tonka pralines, but I live for it. Acqua di Silva is a classic Fougere perfume which, like no other, reproduces the scent of the forest, without smelling like a bath additive. A couple or three sprays in an office setting would give you a crisp, clean, and confident scent, that would last through most of the day.

Acqua di Selva is much more balanced and less cold medicinal camphor than the Avon, but I can see the inspiration. Acqua di Selva moved from Victor to Visconti di Modrone after the former dissolved, but I sense little difference as this was never heavy on restricted materials since oakmoss is a background player to the pine and cedar. Over time, it grows spicier and damp-grassy-woody, and it just feels like the paragon of old world masculinity. Give this scent a few sprays before a late morning brunch with friends on a terrace when the sun shines as much as the smiles on your friends faces. Love the Vitamin Splash and Cleanser but I think, sadly the mask was out of date or defective as it's very bitty and unable to smooth over skin.

This sometimes-minty and sometimes-piney but always-green genre has come and gone throughout the 20th century, taking up shades of fougère or chypre as need be, with the pencil shavings dryness of Acqua di Selva mostly conforming to the latter. Longevity from start to finish on my skin is about 4-5 hours, excellent for something that is an EDC. Herbs and citruses from a happy young man garden - rosemary, lavender, bergamot are drying in the cottage rafters. Always have applied fragrances sparingly, but remembered performance of the old version of this, 2 small dabs of this would last most of a warm day, and it would clearly be recognizable on your shirt collar at the end of day. The thyme and basil is delectable, clinging on to the hair on my forearms and causing me to nuzzle into myself. Dry spicy notes, such as basil, thyme, rosemary and rose geranium underlain by various woods take over the command.This iteration is watered down and has lost its sage characteristic, however it still is a winner for every day use as it reminds me of the golden age of men's fragrance.
