About this deal

A successful restaurateur in Damascus, he was forced to flee Syria after his restaurants were destroyed in the war. There are huge concerns over the safety and well-being of children who have lost their homes, those who are sleeping rough in freezing temperatures, and those who have been separated from their families. Imad uses ingredients such as pomegranate molasses (a tangy sweet-sour syrup made from boiling and reducing pomegranate juice), sumac (the vibrant, citrussy sour dried and ground berries of the sumac plant), bulgur wheat (cracked wheat berries that are cooked and dried, traditionally used in tabbouleh) and tahini (a paste made from toasted and ground sesame seeds). Expect Syrian influenced dishes from over 15 traders, live music and a cake competition for aspiring bakers who can bring along their very best Syrian inspired baking by 3pm to impress the judges, including Rosie Birkett, Chetna Makan, Lily Vanilli and more.

Bake for Syria | Things to do in London - Time Out

University of Bristol Arab Society and University of Bristol Egyptian Society (EGYSOC) organised a joint charity bake sale to raise funds for the victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The organisers reiterated that all the money raised through the bake sale will reach the victims of the earthquakes directly. And their achievements are admirable: they have raised 6,134 euros and State Secretary Gunay Uslu has popped by. This is an idea that came from the grassroots, from our volunteers, and the response over the years has been just fantastic.
